Nuvi 8x5 problems when updating POI files

I have a Nuvi 855. I updated a couple of POI files and changed the distance alert for red light cameras. The changes didn't show up. For two days I tried everything, and nothing would work. In frustration I deleted all of the POI files to start over but they were still showing when I viewed the map. I checked the POI folder and they were deleted, but still were showing on the map. I finally figured out what it was. After I make changes and upload the files with POI loader I have to pull the battery out. That forces a reboot and everything updates and works right then. The 8x5 series battery stays on even when you turn it off. It must hold the POI files in memory and the changes don't overwrite the old files in memory or take effect until you do a hard reboot.

.

Yes, this is common issue for 8xx series users who are using custom POIs and frequently comes up. It's a perplexing issue if you don't know what's going on when you "turn off" the unit. At least the solution is a simple one.

That is correct

That is correct and it is a common question when trying to update the custom POI's on the 8x5 series units. I had the same problem when I first updated my POI's on my 885T.

Next time I'll ask for help when I have a problem

When you read about the POI Loader it never mentions this. Guess I should have asked instead of pulling all my hair out, learned that lesson.
