Who is first?

So who will be first to put it on and find out if the new map introduces any problems like has happened in the last two updates? I think I will watch the forums for a few days before I download.

.

I would hope that Garmin have learned from their past updates along with their issues and have actually provided a bug-free release. As I said, I would hope so but you never can be sure...

I'll hopefully install them later on after the download completes and time permits. I'm in no dire need for the maps but it's always nice to have an update.

Great that they finally released the new map, but I am also cautious as to the changes they made. Maybe wait and see what people report. I hope they didn't remove more locale points as they did two updates ago.

The new map is dated July 9th

I have installed the new map on my 760 and it is dated July 9th. Appears they did an additional 3 weeks of testing this time before releasing to the public. Download, extraction and installation went smooth and quicker than last time. File download size was just over 2 GB's.

This is my 760's lifetime map update info (with codes x'd out) info from the My Garmin account, note that they were dated Jan 09, Apr 09 and Jul 09:

subdivision and street are now included in this new map update

My daughter's subdivision and all the streets are now included in this new map update. Her area is about 1 year old. It appears they have added some entire more recent subdivisions in this latest map update.

I'm going to update my 885T also and it will be interesting to see any changes in the Juction View database. Hopefully some in Arizona now will be included. To date have only seen them in the LA areas.

I just updated my 885T and my 265WT with the numap lifetime updates...all went well on the downloads.. Two weeks ago, they said they got advance notice that the update would be out the next week..it was not. Yesterday, I called, again and asked and was told that it had only been a month since the last update and would be at least another month, maybe two, before the new NUMAP updates would be out.... today...they came out! Surprise, surprise. Why bother to ask them anything?

Still missing

I photograph properties for real estate agents in the Tucson area and am considering buying an update. I noticed that on the Navteq site a subdivision where friends live is now included (Its a number of years old and was not in the 2009 update), but a subdivision I went to a few months ago (also several years old) still is not in the database.

You'd think with the way new construction has pretty much stopped, they'd be more complete. Not sure if I want to buy lifetime updates for my Nuvi 260, but that might be the best way to go. RJRSW, I'd be interested in hearing how complete you are finding the latest update is for Tucson.

If you give me some locations that were not shown before I could test and see if they are now included with the 2010.20 update. The only one I checked right away was my daughter's because I knew they were not included in the last update and now her subdivision and the new one next to it are both shown.

I also checked the last two residential areas I built in the last couple years that were not shown in the prior 2010.10 maps and both are now included.

Thanks, I knew I'd find out first about a new map from here at the POI Factory.

I don't know if I should thank my ISP or Garmin, but today's download took under an hour as opposed to the roughly two-hour downloads of the past updates. In any event, I'm not complaining. Total download/installation to GPS and Mapsource was about 2 hours 10 minutes.

Great news: I checked Green Valley AZ (south of Tucson) where I have relatives in a new development. The new map now includes the development--so I have no good excuse now to avoid driving down to visit them. This is the third map update in a row that has significantly improved Arizona mapping.

I haven't seen this discussed elsewhere, but it seems to be the case with my computer (Vista 32-bit Home Premium with latest updates): I can't get the big 2GB downloaded file to run without first turning off Vista's UAC (User Account Control). Once off, the file executes as expected. Then after a successful installation, I reactivate UAC. Anyone else experience this or have a thought as to why I need to do this?

2010.20 Update

I just installed the 2010.20 update on my Zumo 550. Everything went smooth and took about 2 hours. Checked the maps and it definately gives better routes (like I would have chosen). Anyway, will check in the new few days and let you know how well the routing works.

Update them.

If you find missing areas/data please contact Navteq and update them. You could drive the areas and send them your data log to get them started.

Sure are a lot of Arizona people on this forum.

I turned off UAC on all three of our computers when I first installed Vista in early 2007 and never turned it back on. It about drove me crazy with the constant warnings and permissions. Have had no problems in the 2 1/2 years since with it turned off.

Thanks in advance

Hmmmmmmm

Perhaps the Garmin download page is overwhelmed !
I downloaded 2010.2 earlier today with no problems. Now the MyGarmin/Manage Maps page is not showing an update available.

That's what I noticed.

That's what I noticed. The 2010.20 isn't listed. Funny thing is it said there was a new map available. It showed 2010.10 but when I said to download, it is downloading as 2010.20. Go figure.

Once you have downloaded the update it no longer shows

Once you have downloaded the update it no longer shows on your manage maps page. In order to download it again you need to select the details link on the manage maps page for the unit you downloaded it for and it will show as a download again link.

Free Map Download Does Not Mean Most Current Version for One

I purchased and registered my 265WT in June, 2009. My 60 day free map download will expire next week. I called Garmin Support just now to confirm that the map version 2010.20 is out this morning since on the myGarmin site nowhere do I see any indication or mention about the newer version 2010.20. The tech lady did confirm version 2010.20 is out this morning. However, this is what she told me. If I download the map within my 60 day period next week I will still get version 2010.10, even though version 2010.20 is out this morning. The map version that one will get in the 60 day free download is whatever latest version on the date when the unit registration takes place. Since my unit was registered in June and 2010.10 was the latest version at that time, that's what I will get. I will not get the version 2010.20.

This sucks. I think most people have misunderstood how this works and waited until the 60th day comes near hoping to get the latest and greatest for their unit and money's worth. Apparently that's not so.

I will do my download tomorrow evening and verify. If I find out otherwise I will come back and post. If someone else has a different experience, e.g.: does get the 2010.20 in the one free download, please let know also. Thanks!

I contacted Garmin Support

I contacted Garmin Support and seems to be a problem with my account in that the 2010.20 was not showing up on MY Garmin web page. The supervisor had to log into my account and is in the process of sending an email to IT to correct my account so that the d/l will appear in my account, hopefully it should be corrected by Friday afternoon at the latest. If anyone is having the same issue, I suggest a call to Garmin tech support to correct your account.

I thought of that in the 2 1/2 hours I was waiting for the download. I asked my ISP if they could open up my bandwidth to allow a faster download but the tech working didn't know how and the guy that does was off today but he was impressed with the size of the download and even checked with me later to make sure it worked. So I decided to be patient. It sure slowed down my other computer also.

Got Mine

Thanks, I saw it earlier today only I am unable to log in to POI Factory from work due to the way the site is listed. They must have changed the listing because the firewall used to let it through.

Anyway - I updated mine and my neighborhood finally made it in there. I guess registering on the Navteq site as a Map Reporter paid off.

Free Map Download Does Not Mean Most Current Version for One (2)

Good news! It turned out that the Garmin tech support lady whom I talked to earlier today was wrong about the 60 day one-time free download map version locked at time of unit registration. I went ahead to get my free download this evening and I did get the file name Garmin_rmu_cnnant2010_20.dmg file. The file download process took 32 minutes to complete over a Cox line. The file size is 2.35 GB.

I'm installing the map update as of this typing. Good news to share with anyone who's waiting just like me toward the end of the 60 days for the newer map version.

.

My Garmin is showing me i have a new map available for DL, will work on that friday,NO email notification on this though, found out from the site here thanks guys,im sure things will go well.
