Need help please...

I am a noobie. I have no problem updating my POI's, but when it comes to attaching a custom sound to them, I am lost. I have read the instructions many times and understand that if I my file is named redlight-camera.csv … then I must name the MP3 file … redlight-camera.mp3...However, how do I tell what my file is named? My downloaded file tells me that it is Redlight-Cameras.csv. Please help, I have tried numerous times and am getting frustrated. Thanks for your help. I am using a Garmin nuvi 660.

.

If the POI file that you downloaded is named "Redlight-Cameras.csv" then you need to have a corresponding sound file named "Redlight-Cameras.mp3".

They must match exactly. And be sure not to ended up with double file extensions such as "Redlight-Cameras.mp3.mp3". Otherwise it will not work correctly.

If your downloaded file is 'Redlight-Cameras.csv' then I believe that your sound file should be 'Redlight-Cameras.mp3.' As long as the names are the same it should work. They must also be in the same folder on your computer when you use the POI installer.

Does anyone know if the names are case-sensitive? i.e. is 'Redlight-Cameras.csv' the same as 'redlight-cameras.csv'?

I guess I didn't type fast enough!!! At least we had the same answers!!!!

windows default is to hide

windows default is to hide extension -- never understood this.. I always turn it off first time I ever touch a box.

Under folder options, view uncheck the "hide extensions for known file types"

Now you will see your files as whatever.csv, whatever.mp3, whatever.avi, etc.. And can make sure your names match correctly.

Thanks all, I will retry it

It's best to

copy and paste cvs file name to mp3 file name then change extension. Doing so reduces mistakes.

Don't forget to have both

Don't forget to have both files in the same folder for POI loader to get them from.
