2010 Map lag

A couple of days ago I bought the nuvi Life Map and installed it on my 750. All went well and I was impressed with all the new roads that appeared. Now I have a new problem - the map refresh can not keep up with my current position.
I now drive pass a road or intersection well ahead of the map. This is very frustrating and I wonder if anybody is having the same problem?
As part of the download Garmin updated my firmware to the latest version. Could that be the problem? Should I call Garmin?

Look in Tools>Settings>Map

Look in Tools>Settings>Map and see what the detail is set for. Set it to Normal or lower and see if that helps the lag.

I have 2 750's and I've been using the latest maps and latest firmware since they became available. On very rare occasions have seen some lag but never really bad and never close enought to missing a turn and then the lag seems to mysteriously clear up. I always use the 2D north up map orientation with detail level set to "more". I typically keep my zoom scale set to about 0.5 or 0.3 miles for local driving. I don't know if the lag behavior might any more predominent in 3D mode. Intuitively, it seems like there is far more drawing activity in 3D mode.

Do a hard reset. My 750

Do a hard reset. My 750 works just fine with the 2010, usually on either more or most detail.

Fine for me

The 2010 maps work fine on my 255w. With the 2009 maps it took forever to load up. The 2010 are way faster.

255WT with 2010 Map

Got my 255WT early July and updated to 2010 Map with system 5.10. Took it out for a test spin and noticed that when it's in ready mode, the map screen update is delayed. The car icon on the screen will move pass the street *after* you have already passed the street.

Just updated to system 5.30 last night, will test it again this week. I have 'More' setting on the map detail. Not sure how much map detail I will lose if I need to set it to 'normal' or 'low' in order for the car icon to sync up.

No lag here

I'm running 2010.1C ... and do not notice any lag on regularly driving ... 2d, track up more.

3D map with 'More' setting

I was using 3D map with 'More' setting.. will change it to 2D see if it helps.

i have a 350 that has the 2010 map. i currently set it to 2d north up and at most detail. it seems to be fine for now. Good luck.

No problem here

My 750 (latest firmware, voices and ClearChannel Traffic) has no lag with the current 2010 map. I use 3D with Most Detail and Track Up which likely puts the most stress on the system.

Remember

Remember that your actual "location" if using the triangle is the bottom, or flat edge. So for most of your icons think your location on the rear bumper, trailer hitch or something.

Hard reset tip

After some reading here and an e-mail to Garmin I decided to go ahead with the "Hard Reset".

All when fine. I decided to do it in the car on my driveway so that acquiring satellites would be easy. The thing I noticed was that once I had completed the setup questions, I had full satellite bars straightaway but I let it sit for another 30 minutes. I then took it out for a test run. To my disappointment there was no improvement. I did this three times and still no improvement. Now I was ready to put out the remaining four hairs that I have. Then it hit me, there must be a memory factor at play here. The nuvi remembers the last satellites for awhile.
I took the unit inside the house and left it overnight. In the morning, while still in the house, I turned it on to see that it could not find satellites. I then did the hard reset again, completed the setup questions and turned it off. I then placed it in my window, turned it on, and left it there for 30 minutes.
A road test followed and to my surprise!!!!!, it now works again like a new nuvi.

Hope this helps someone else with the "Lag Problem"

Hmmm, both my units have notable map lag. It sort of fades away (or becomes less annoying) as you zoom out.
