POI Loader, please help!

I've been trying for days to get the POI Loader for Garmin to load. Once I download, I click yes to run the program and at exit, I click on the "open POI" and done, and it just doesn't come up.

Then I go into my Garmin Nuvi 765 (which is hooked up to the computer) and I can see all the poi files that I dragged and dropped into the folder, but when I restart my garmin, they're not there..

I had this before on my last Garmin (but it got stolen out of my car) and for some reason, I can't get this to run at all!

Please help!

thanks in advance!

POI Loader

It sounds as if you are dragging and dropping the POI source files to the Nuvi. These go into a folder on your computer. Poiloader then reads the source file from your computer and puts a file called POI.GPI in the Garmin. This is all the custom poi that were in the folder you created on the computer.

Not where you think

Another possibility is that they loaded via the POI Loader and you maybe looking in the wrong place on the GPS. They don't show up via the POI selection but by using the Extra selection on the next page of the menu.

Also try the manual function in the POI loader and test a few files.

POI Loader

I would test it with a single file first, and manually load as JFCTexas suggests. You will likely find your file under Where To-Extras.

If you know how to make a POI in a csv file,. you might want to create one with a location close to home. This is a great way to test everything.

Also, make sure that you go to settings and scroll down to Proximity Alerts, if you have loaded any files with Prox Alerts. Be sure to check that it will show Prox allow audible Prox Alerts, including for TourGuides, if you have loaded any TourGuides.

Thanks for all the comments.

Thanks for all the comments. I did all of the above, but when I went to "extras" they weren't there. I browsed through the garmin, and was shocked to see that "home" was an address listed in LA, and under favourites there were at least 10 other addresses. I live on the East Coast, so clearly they weren't mine.

My Garmin came from Amazon - but the box wasn't taped, there was no plastic covering the screen, and there wasn't a CDRom in the box. I'm assuming they sent me a return from someone else.

I have since logged onto amazon and created a return slip, and ordered the Garmin Nuvi 1350 instead.

Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow and all will be well! I'll be leaving for Nags Head on Friday, and really don't want to be struggling with a "regular" map!

Again thanks for all the responses!

.

Most Garmin units come in boxes that are not sealed and don't have any plastic covering the unit.

Poi loader

You can uninstall the poi loader and find a new one and install it again. Create a folder in your computer where you have all the pois you want to install on your gps. After you connect the gps and clean all the pois in the gps. Reopen the poi loader and load in manual mode.

P.S You can go to the garmin site and download the current updated POI loader, and install it on you computer.

Gps! ask where to go and get there! Best of all, what we need is to have accurate pois to reach all destinations
