Question re Naming Convention for POI files.

I know there is lots of disussion regarding naming convention, but there is something I can't quite fathom rolleyes I have done lots of searches and reading links, etc.

1. Does the name of the CSV, GPX and/or Tourguide file have to have underscores rather than spaces? As in Rest_Areas.csv. Or will Rest Areas.csv suffice? My read is that you do need the underscores for the name, is that right?

2. For the purposes of the .bmp and .mp3 files, does the title have to match exactly as in Rest_Areas.bmp, or will Rest Areas.bmp work?

3. Also, does all of the capitalization need to be the same as in Tourguide files?

Thanks for your help on this one, for some reason I'm just kind of lost.

Here's my take

1. Name can have blank in it
2. Rest_Area.csv Rest_Area.bmp Rest_Area.mp3, names have to match.

3. TourGuide has to be exactly like this, so TourGuide_Rest_Area.csv along with the same name on the bmp or mp3

Don't use TourGuide on the Rest_Area file, it isn't necessary and would get you alerts for rest areas on both sides of the road.

No underscore is needed, I

No underscore is needed, I never did understand why it is used. You do need all associated files to be named exactly the same whatever way you choose.
(Dennys.gpx Dennys.bmp Dennys.mp3 etc...)

Why not capitalize if you did for one of the files do for all associated ones. You can name the CSV or GPX file most anything you want (avoid the certain things the POI loader looks for like speed/red light terms)

Also remember the word TourGuide MUST be typed exactly as I did. (Dennys TourGuide.gpx)

There is a ton of info just look around.....

Underscore instead of spaces

Back in ancient times file names could not have spaces or hyphens. Underscore was used to keep from having run-on file names. For example, your Delaware income tax can be DE_file.doc instead of defile.doc. You can see what risks you take with no spaces.

Please doon't ask me how we labeled "The "Pen is Mighter"!

Thank You

Thanks for the insight. This one particular issue has puzzled me for some time even though I've read Gary's site and numerous other sites and posts.
