More Help Needed on Proximity Alerts

I've been trying since mid January and have had no success. I bought a new Garmin 255W and want to have it tell me "rest area ahead" on the interstate rest areas. I've loaded the Illinois rest areas manually and added a WAV file. I gave the WAV file the same name as the rest area file name. I set the distance to 3000 ft manually. It doesn't work. I also added the SOX.EXE file as instructed. What am I doing wrong?

Are you getting the default alert? Or are you getting no alert at all?

Past posts on the indiviual Rest Stops have found the coordinates are set at the rest stop location not at the entrance.Resulting in the coordinates being more then 50 ft off the road. You will not get alerts in this case.Try the rest stops combined file http://www.poi-factory.com/node/6643 .These files have the coordinates set for the entrance. If you don't get alert using this file then something wrong with how the wav file is set up on your computer.

Sox.exe

I get POI Loader saying it can't find sox.exe when I load POIs on my son's NUVI 255W.

What is it and where is it installed?

Thanks

Wav File

I also have comment of a problem with wav file, but when I load two separate wavs, it only complains about one. What's special about the configuration?

I checked location for

I checked location for number 10 on the csv file and the coordinates are off the road see http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=...

Edit. You will not get alert when coordinates are set off the road more then 50 ft.

Make sure you followed theses steps for wav files.

a. Download the latest PoiLoader file at http://www8.garmin.com/products/poiloader/ .
b. Download Sox Exe at http://rapidshare.com:80/files/139638423/sox.zip .
c. After un-zipping Sox Exe file place it in your Garmin folder where the PoiLoader exe file is located on the computer.
d. The wav file for alerts will be named the same as the CSV or GPX file except for the extensions.
e. You can make your own wav files by going to http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php and typing in what you want it to say or use a program to convert mp3 files to wav. When using the conversion it must be saved as PCM, 44.100 kHZ., 16 bit, Mono. Wav files are also on site for download.
