Thanks for posting this! I will update mine later tonight smile

Thanks

Thanks for the info. Too bad I just loan my 255W to my brother this morning. Gotta wait till the weekend.

Please post your experience with 5.0

Thx for the update

Will update and check out tomorrow. =)

cool

I just hope it fixes more problems than it causes

Sluggish text entry

I just bought the 255w, and before I got a chance to use it, I updated to v5 of the firmware, and one thing I notice that no one is experiencing, is very sluggish text entry.

What I mean is, I would type something quickly (not too quickly) and the GPS would act as if it locks up for a second and the text all appears at once, which never happened on the 660 and 680 I tried before.

Has this been a problem with previous firmwares or is this something new?

Mine was/is a bit sluggish too

Mine was a bit sluggish ever since I first got it back last Dec. It was with v4.60. It was a little sluggish but I could deal with it. I just updated to v5.00 so I'll play with it more tomorrow and see.

Yeah.

<snip>

I noticed this with version 4.80 but it never bothered me enough to report it.

V 5.0

Thanks for the heads up on V5.0, Just downloaded V5.0 and when I type on the 205W, it seems to register the letters FASTER than before. will try to use the unit later today.

Thanks

I just updated mine. Hopefully it will fix more than it breaks.

Traffic Map

So far so good on the morning commute. My commute route is pretty simple so there wasn't much of a chance to see if something broke.

I noticed today (after the update to v5.00 last night) that my 265WT automatically switched from the "normal map" to the "traffic map" this morning. I had the 265WT plugged in to the car charger/traffic receiver, and the traffic was yellow (it is rainy today). As soon as the yellow traffic icon changed to green, the map automatically switched back to the normal map.

Previously, I had not paid attention to whether the 265WT would automatically switch from the normal map to the traffic map if traffic is yellow or red. Thus, I can't confirm the autoswitching of the traffic map to normal map is a change between v4.80 to v5.00

Traffic Map

Automatic switching in and out of "traffic map" mode was present in 4.80 and (I think) 4.60. Possibly earlier, but I don't have experience with earlier versions.

iPhone Bluetooth now works

Before updating to 5.0, my Nuvi 265WT would shut off whenever I tried to pair it with my iPhone. Now it pairs fine and actually works. Looks like their Bluetooth update fixed the iPhone issues.

I also noticed that eco allows one to calibrate mpg. I don't recall seeing this option before (one could put in city and highway mpg, but not actually calibrate the results).

Didn't realize that

Thanks.. I didn't realize that. I guess I should use the traffic more often so I'd find out more of the traffic features. =D

Calibration was there

This was present in 4.80, but I believe you had to drive somewhere to collect some data before it showed up.

Worked For Me

No problems with the update to 5.00 for me...

Work go so far

Just update last night and doing a test run this morning, the magenta line going around the destination is gone. I'm gona test on my out of town trip this weekend.

Thanks!

Thanks for the 411!!!

Bluetooth definitely better

Prior to the 5.00 update, people would say my voice sounded distant when using Bluetooth hands free. Now they can at least hear what I am saying - I have not had any complaints since updating.

So far so good

Thanks for the heads-up.
