I assume you mean that during a random/shuffle playing of mp3's or a "play all", that the custom alerts play as if they were a song.

All custom audio alerts should be compiled within the POI file(s) POI.gpi -- they are compiled by POI Loader from your computer and loaded into poi.gpi. For your mp3 player to see the file as an mp3 means that somebody copied the file onto the gps directly. All you need to do is plug it into the computer and do a search for all mp3 files, or, if you know that it contains redlight in the name of the mp3, you could search for all files containing "redlight", and delete it.

And if you are using a Mac, be sure that you empty the trash before disconnecting the unit from the computer.

That's Funny

Here I am typing on a Mac, and when I saw BigMac, I thought of a hamburger. You are probably typing on a PC and thought of Macintosh. I'm betting you made the proper call.

Why do you need to empty the trash on Macs before you disconnect the GPS unit?

When you delete a file on the Mac, it goes into a trash folder and the gps sees a trash folder as any other folder. Thus, the "deleted" item is still being read. Once you empty the trash, it is gone.

I tried doing a search of all mp3's as well as redlight but I couldnt come up with the one I should delete. I have two folders in the garmin. one is named "POI" and the other is named "poi garmin POI downloads" All the red light data as well as the mp3 alert sounds apear in the "POI Garmin POI downloads" folder. Should these files be in the POI folder? Thanks for you help.

No csv, gpx, or mp3/wav custom audio alerts belong on the gps anywhere. They belong only on your computer. POI Loader will then take them and compile all the files into POI.gpi and load that onto your gps.

Thanks! I appreciate the info. As a PC owner/user I never would have known this.
