Audio jack output & Nav audio

Question for any one regarding a Nuvi 750. Because the FM output is not always ideal, I connect my music output via the external jack to a separate FM modulator and in doing so the normal navigation voice/tones are disabled. Is there a way to have retain voice and or tones ??

.

Have you checked your settings to make sure you didn't accidentally mute the voice/tones?

Because the voice/tones should play even when you are using the audio jack output.

Thank you for the reply. I set the FM transmitter to off and the audio mute is not checked.

Did that correct the issue?

I did this prior to the initial inquiry. The normal audio / tones cease immediately upon plugging into the output jack, the music is OK.

Something is wrong with your setup

I have the 760 and often connect it via the audio out to the aux in of my car stereo. Whatever I normally hear on the Nuvi is heard through the car speakers. Music, Navigation, even button taps.

Try this: Once you have an MP3 playing, go to the MP3 player screen. Tap the volume icon. You should see several volume choices; Navigation, Music, Master Volume. It's possible that the Navigation volume got set to 0. I don't know why it would silence when you connect your audio cable, though.

How about

Do the directional voices work correctly when you aren't using the mp3 player?

Yes, they do

Yes, they do. I only suggested going to the MP3 screen because on the 760, it has 3 volume choices vs only one or two choices from the Volume icon shown on the main menu screen.

Audio mystery

Thanks for the replies. This is the situation. Voice ,tap tones all Ok as long as the mp3 player is on "pause" ; as soon as "play" begins then voice & tap tones are silent. All 3-volume settings Ok . I tried setting the media volume so low as to be nearly inaudible to avoid drowning out the rest. Jim

Complete mystery, Jim

That's just not how my 760 works. You would think they would be the same - minus the Bluetooth functions.

How it's supposed to work - and my 760 does - it pauses the music when giving navigation prompts and then resumes music playback after the prompt is finished. That's what makes using the Nuvi useful as an MP3 player. You can have the music up nice and loud if you like it that way, and don't have to worry about the music drowning out the navigation prompts.

You ARE using MP3's and not WAV files, right?

That is affirmative, music is all mp3. What you describe sounds logical. By the way, I do have ver 4.60 Thank you for the info.

Garmin Gps documentation

I want to thank the POI-Factory and all contributors for being a source of information for this unique technology. It truly is a kind of mutual help organization. I think we all realize that manufacturers of this and other low cost devices can not afford to put a lot of time in users manuals. But it would sure be nice to get more than an 8-page users guide. Has any one out there seen a more descriptive source of info that describes functions and characteristics of Garmin GPS units ? Thaks again.

Thank you. Yes I recently found this site and it is very useful indeed. I did get my 750 audio to function OK. I reloaded Australian Karen from Garmin and all is well. I don't remember what voice I used initially ; what ever the default choice was. Jim
