When you point to a source folder, ALL of your POI files must be in that folder (or subfolders) and reloaded with POI Loader. Every time you run POI Loader it overwrites your previous load.

Rename method

Or you can use the 'rename method'.

Then you can add POIs without overwriting the previous loaded POIs.

Just to clarify, if you use POI Loader it removes previous POIs no matter what, and if you use the method that you referred to (manually copying the POI files over) you can keep them, right?

If you use the poiloader it

If you use the poiloader it will overwrite the existing files. If you use the renaming method and run poiloader it will not remove the ones you used for the renaming method. What some users do if they have pois like Walmart that you update a lot they use poiloader to install them and update as needed. If you have a custom poi file like the National Parks that does not require you to update that frequently you use the re-naming method. You can use both methods together.

Incorrect

The POIs will not be overwritten unless the POI file on the GPS is left as poi.gpi. If you change the file name to one you don't already have on the GPS (xx.gpi), it will not be overwritten.

Every time you run POI Loader, it generates a file named poi.gpi. As with all computers, if you try to place that in the same folder as a file of the same name, they can't both coexist with the same name. The solution is to either rename the original file so that the new poi.gpi doesn't overwrite it, OR, put them in separate subfolders on the gps and leave them all as poi.gpi files (you know what is in them because of the folder name). If you go the latter route, you are not forever relegated to renaming files every time you update.

You CANNOT copy POI files (csv and gpx) directly to the gps.
