help please... (nuvi 310 speaker volume)

I just bought a garmin nuvi 310 second hand. Im not rich and just seen the new map price £99.99... ouch. also do i need a special speaker as the voice is soooo quiet, an yes the voll is up to max.only the unit and screen mount was on sale in the shop. do i need to register anywhere ?? It was the best i could afford, and would be gratefull for any HELP. cheers. Oldshep..

I see you just joined the site.Lots of good people here and plenty of pois to download.The first thing you should do is go to http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/ and download webupdater to your computer.After you complete the download hook the gps up to your computer using the usb cable and make sure the unit is on.Run the webupdater to get the latest updates for the unit.

Some of us don't believe in updating unless something needs to be updated; make up your own mind on that.

You probably don't need the latest map. At 99 pounds, that must be more than you paid for the unit.

I assume you can register it online at https://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/marketing/register.htm but it might depend on whether the previous owner registered it.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

Should be ok.You can also go to http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=010-00... and look on right and see selections you can make for information on your unit.
