WHAT'S THE USE OF THE SCREEN SHOT??

Hello: Just want to know confused what is the use of the "screen shot" any way???, personally I can not find any real use of it; or maybe I'm missing something that I don't know???

Please tell me how do you use it!!!

Thanks: FRGG

Screen Shot

I used it to save the top speed (597 MPH) on a flight I took. The screen shot photo is on my Nuvi and in a folder on my laptop.

So another words its just

So another words its just wasted space...

just one way

If you get a reading on the gps that you may want to save, (650 mph on a airplane) you could take a screen shot and keep it that way. I am sure there will be a lot of chatter about this.

unit comparisons...

See the following topic I started comparing the detail of the nuvi 7x0 with the nuvi 7x5 series and you'll see why screen shots are useful.

.

I use it when I want to show someone what I'm seeing on my GPS screen that they might not be seeing.

Or to demonstrate something. Or to record an elevation or speed (as noted above).

Or to record a location to send to someone without a GPS unit.

Not a waste of space to me.

it's a great

way to create a simple map, perhaps as part of an invitation to a gathering, etc.

Think Garmin created it so

Think Garmin created it so when you have a problem, you can take a screen shot and upload it to the Garmin Tech support.

Another useless/wasted feature on the garmin

I use it to extract built-in icons

I found it very useful to get a snap shot of the icons page, then I was able to crop the image to create icons for my built-in POIs.

I've seen it also used to demonstrate how a given vehicle shows in 2D, 3D, day or night modes.

Travel Memories? Tax Documentation?

Off the top of my noggin....The Screenshot would be a great way to document a trip. Take a shot at mileposts or popular tourist attractions. Want to show someone you were at the mile zero marker in the Florida keys? Take a snapshot of the screen.

It might be useful for documenting travel expenses if you're reimbursed for business expenses. Maybe even for tax purposes to prove where you went, where you parked etc.

Shots could be used in an album or on a personal webpage for a little 'vacation show and tell' highlight. You could keep a record of elevation (in units that don't have tracking ability).

Just think about it a little, you can probably come up with a long list of potential uses.

Cheers wink

Documentation

I developed and maintain a list of POIs for my office.....specifically our office locations, recommended hotels and restaurants, etc. We have quite a few Nuvi owners in the office plus we purchased 2 Nuvis for general office use. After I installed the POIs on the Nuvis, I provide a 3-4 page instruction on accessing the POIs. To clearly document this functionality, I do screen shots and paste in to the word document.

Thanks for the Ideas

I see already...you are right, there are a lot of uses of the screen shot that I never imagined, I'm going to give it a "shot" grin

wow
