Great advise. I didn't know about the baking period. Also the "don't trust it", always confirm the trip with a map is a good idea. I have experienced my gps route taking 5 hrs on a trip that I always do in 3 hrs. Most of the time it is right on though. Thanks for the good advise.

5 ... If it's not a Garmin, I highly recommend reading the manual.
A nod to Garmin's ease of use, or an acknowledgement that the Garmin manual isn't worth reading? I'm inclined to think the second.
