just got my nuvi for christmas and have a quick question ? when the nuvi is hooked to my computer to charge the battery can the unit be powered on ? all i can see on the screen is garmin and the icon showing the garmin is hooked up the the pc . i would like to program my address in while the battery is charging . thanks for your help and merry christmas

Yes you can turn on The Nuvi and do what you want with it when it is hooked up to your Computer and the battery will still be charging

not exactly...
You will not be able to access the interface while in storage mode with the usb cable on the computer.

You're going to find programming in your specific house number isn't as accurate as using the "use my current location" while standing in your driveway. Actual addresses, especially in residential areas can be off by several houses thanks to a sort of 'general purpose' algorhythm used by the device.
By now you've discovered with the 760 you can't 'play' while charging through your computer. You 'can' work with the GPS if you're charging from a normal (transformer) power supply with mini USB plug or when the unit is in it's cradle.

While connected to your computer.
Check this out....... I haven't tried it but some report success. Try searching this forum for other suggestions...
