What information am I able to transfer to an SD card in the C330? I have heard that this is very limited and not worthwhile.

Nothing. The only thing a C330 will read from the card is a map supplement image. Load your POIs directly to the unit using POI loader and the USB cable, or you can put waypoints on it using Mapsource, which show up as Favorites.
