Go to http://www.poi-factory.com/poifiles/alpha and do a search for 'WiFi'. (If you have Windows, do a CTRL+F and type in 'Wifi')

WIFI

That would be great

I think so. It will be a

I think so. It will be a great help

and then how to find them

for example, I've downloaded the phoenix wi fi file.
where exactly lis this going to show up? Obviously I go to points of interest and then? did a search for wifi and found nothing of use...

ahhh did a little search before I pressed post and found this way at the bottom of the faqs: under : Where does the menu show custom POIs on nuvi 660? (i have a 750)

"After you've transferred custom POIs to your GPS with POI Loader, they can be found at this location:

Where to? > Extras > Custom POIs"

that's kind of important to know -- why didn't the garmin software tell me that? sheesh.
so cusomt poi's aren't integrated into the built in unchangeable poi's, so dual restaurant searches etc will become the norm I guess.

Owners Manual

MW,

Page 47 of your owners manual:

"To view your Custom POI's touch 'Where to-Extras-Custom POIs"

It's easy to miss but there's a whole section dealing with POIs on that page.

BTW for easy reference (so you don't have to tote a manual with you) Garmin has posted the document here: http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/nuvi750-GPS-Atl_OwnersManual....

Free WiFi in Oregon along I-5

I've got a list of public libraries in Oregon along I-5. The format of the lat/long is all wrong for a POI file. Need to revise it one of these days . . .

It's In There

It does. Check page 47 of the Nuvi 700 series owners/users manual. The manual can be instantly accessed when you have questions here: http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/nuvi750-GPS-Atl_OwnersManual....

i understood it was in the manual

I actually read manuals. and in fact, you'll note i discovered it AS i was posting.

but the software that helpfully helps you LOAD the poi information to your device has a lot of lines telling you useful things, but not the most Obvious useful thing.

that's just weak.

Different locations for different GPSrs

Most likely it isn't listed in POI Loader because different GPSr's display in different places. Of course, they could add software to determine which GPSr you have and then display the correct location.

wifi

great info!

I have a friend who bought a Garmin, I have the 880 does anyone know if all garmins have the capability of uploading poi's?

Thanks

I case you don't know,

I case you don't know, Garmin has a website called www.garmin.com

They have specifications for their products and yeah... owners manual too. Cool stuff.

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=164&pID=11545#specsT...

Nuvi 880 specs says:
Custom POIs (ability to add additional points of interest): yes

WIFI

There is one POI that won't show up if you do a search for wifi. If you get Iowa rest areas they all have free wifi. I will add wifi as a catagory.
