Garmin 205 and hiking??

I just got a Garmin Nuvi 205. I had a garmin etrex that i bought in 2003 and I have been amazed at how accurate it is. Does anybody have any recommendations on whether or not it would be good to take this hiking with me (keeping it safe). will it pick up well in the deep woods, etc...

Garmin Etrex

IMHO an Etrex is better than a Nuvi for hiking. It's: smaller, more abuse resistant, more water proof, has replaceable batteries (assuming you carry spares), provides tracks and track back, etc.
In any case, a Nuvi will work in the deep woods.

I'd bring a compass too...

You may want to rethink this, as the nuvi is meant for the road. It will work, but as stated earlier, without the track back and other amenities that off-road GPSr units offer you may want to carry a good old fashioned compass.

Bad choice of tools!

Big mistake, keep the Etrex it's the right tool for the job.
