Making a Change for directions - 760

When I leave my house, the 760 always wants to take me a different way. It wants to go 3 miles West or 6 miles East to get to either a Tollroad or a major highway running North/South. The quickest way is to get on a street next to my house go straight South to a Major Interstate that runs between the two above listed roads. There are 3 stoplights on the road that I want to go on compared to at least 6 stoplights going the other directions. Is there any way to force the 760 to go the way I want to go? I usually just Mute the volume until I get past the highways.

Directions

You might try avoidances, and check ignore toll roads. That might help. Otherwise, you’re probably doing the best thing possible. Remember, GPS is designed to go via main roads, so it probably will never know your local short cuts. Mine doesn’t either. But, if you were in a strange town, it would get you there.

Add Via Points

If you REALLY want the Nuvi to take the correct street, you can always add via points along that street. But the question would be, why? You know where you are going, so why do you need the Nuvi to tell you where to go?

Why not just leave the unit off until you are close to the freeway?

change directions

make a via point along the route you prefer and then set up a route to force it to go the way you like best

Does The Same

My 750 has the same "problem". I just ignor it and go the way I know is best. It will re-calculate and will finally join the route I want to travel. I have set the avoidances options but it stll want to go it's own way. This is an example of not trusting the GPS to know the best route.

Thanks to all of you

I can certainly leave it off or on mute, which is not a problem. I was just wondering if there were some button I hadn't found. Thanks again.

Don't you love it?

Don't you love it? Every time I force "her" to recalculate, I get a kick out of it - OK, I just had my GPS two weeks ago. It may become "old" after awhile.

I'm trying to get my wife to do the same thing when I don't do what she said: Don't get upset, recalculate... wink

Build a Route to your freeway entrance

Just build a route to your preferred road. When you get there, select your final destination.
