Garmin 770 - Favorites and POI's

I am new to the 770 and want to get the most out of its capabilities. I have a degree in Computer Information Technology and am very savvy with programming, etc. I can see myself working on some projects for my own use and sharing with others.

Without having to read through all 196 pages of discussions on the forum, I'd like to ask a question -

I have added a few restaurant addresses to my Favorites that I would like to have listed in Points of Interest instead. Is there a way to move them? The process of creating a .csv file and uploading them via POI loader is pretty straight forward so that's not much of a problem. I just wanted to know if there is a faster workaround.

Concerning custom POI's installed from this site and others - How are they accessed from the GPS unit itself. Do they integrate with the preloads or do I have to search separately.

Thanks in advance for the help, I look forward to making a contribution to this group as time goes on.

I did not read to start, either

I just moved those customized POI files done by POI loader into POI directory when Garmin GPSr unit is connected to PC through USB port. To be honest, that is one of two things I did so far. I am happy with what I have.

The built in POI's can not

The built in POI's can not be edited or added to.

I have a 770 as well. Custom POIs from this site are accessed on the GPS by going to Where To -> Extras -> Custom POIs. They don't integrate into the preloaded POIs.

I haven't found a quicker way of getting your favorites into Custom POIs that the way you suggest - make a csv and use POI Loader.

There is a simple program called EasyGPS http://www.easygps.com/download1.asp that will transfer your favorites to your computer in a Gpx file. You can load IT back to your gps as a custom poi file or you can convert the file to a csv file using http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/convert_input .
