Garmin 260 documentation

I'm a hard headed geographer who finally purchased my first navigation type unit......a Nuvi 260.....mainly because I have way to many addresses now that I need to locate when I travel.

I think the 260 is an awesome unit but I do believe the documentation is lacking. I was hoping they had more detailed documentation available to download on the website but no such luck.

Is everybody else experiencing the same?

Basically Basic

Welcome....

Yours is a common complaint....

For other than basic functions the search feature here is your friend.... either in the FAQ or in one of the threads.

And for the really hard stuff, there are a number of knowledgable members around most hours of the day/night.

Your geography background could add to the collective knowledge here if you have time to participate. Quite a diverse group here all in all.

Try this user guide that was made by one of our members. http://snipurl.com/garmin_gps_tricks I think that it would be very helpful.

Gotcha on the documentation.

Gotcha on the documentation. I've only had my 260 for a few days and found this POI site to learn about making my own files.

I have a degree in geography and have worked in the field for 25 years. I have experience in geocoding addresses, coordinate systems, GIS, computer programming, data processing, etc. I guess I'm saying I know enough to be dangerous! =;) The reality is I know a little about a lot of things.
I'll definitely be around and will offer my expertise when I can.

Documentation

I entered Garmin 260 manual into Google.

You have seen this right?

Yeah, but there's no REAL user manual, unfortunately.
