What would I use TinyPic for on POIFactory?

Yesterday I explored TinyPic.com, set up an account to upload photos. How could I use that account with my POIFactory account?

I believe it was Motorcycle Mama who first mentioned the TinyPic website. I did not realize that I could put a html code into a message and have a picture appear. Of course this was on a forum at another website.

Would it be possible to upload screenshots here? I have explored a new feature of TinyPic, to upload to their site a jpg image taken on my Blackberry. If you have a camera in your phone, and email loaded on it, you can email a picture to your TinyPic account.

I would be interested in learning how others on here are able to put Screenhots into use. So far, I don't get it.

Thanks

You can't post the actual pictures here on POI Factory. You have to post the links. I don't see any need for that to change.

I like to use TinyPic for posting into forums because it's quick, doesn't require an account set up, doesn't expose the users personal data, and because the links, in theory anyway, don't expire, so the information in the posts will always (again, in theory) be available.

The reasons that I like the idea of people not being able to post pictures directly here are that people don't always resize their pictures and reading posts with large pictures and having to scroll through them can be annoying and there's always the chance that someone might post a picture that is inappropriate or not family friendly. For those who visit the site with family members (kids) or a work, this can present a problem. I like the fact that this site has worked hard to remain family friendly.

Having the pictures in a link gives the user a choice.

Lastly, I like to use the screenshot function to help illustrate what the user should be seeing on their screen (or at least what I'm seeing on mine). Sometimes it helps people "get it" when they can see what it should look like.

Aha, Screenshots would be a great help

MM, I thought you were the one who first mentioned TinyPic.com and I was right. I will be using them in imbedding links in my posts.

I guess I need to find out how to get the screenshot done from start to finish. The 880 manual just says I have screenshot function but I don't know how to put it to work. I think if I hit
"Screenshot" it is same as CTRL+C, but when I want to put it in TinyPic.com, since it is not a jpg file, how do I get it there? I can copy the URL or the HTML whichever to include it in the post, once I get it uploaded to TinyPic.com

Thanks for your patience.

Here's how it works on my Zumo. Not sure if the 880 is the same, but I'm guessing it would be similar.

On my Zumo, if I want to activate the Screenshot function, I go to that menu item and enable it.

Then on my screen appears a camera icon. Now on any screen that I'm on, I can hit that button and the unit will take a screenshot of that screen. I can do this as many times as I want up to the capacity of the unit.

The screenshots on my Zumo are stored in a folder named scrn. They are BMP files.

When I connect my Zumo to my computer with the USB cable, I navigate to this folder and the screenshots are there.

I then copy them to my computer (although this step isn't completely necessary). Then I can upload them to the TinyPic website and get a URL for the picture.

The TinyPic site converts the BMP to a JPG.
