Animated GIF Avatar

I can not answer your question because both of mine have just worked.

Try to right click on mine, Save Image As, then try to upload as your own avatar.

Well now that's just weird. I tried your suggestion and the gif worked on my PC just like it does for you, online.

So I edited my profile and uploaded it, but that's not what is displaying. I am getting the previous animated gif that doesn't work?!? It seems to be "stuck" in my profile.

I'm going to try to put back my original photo and see if I can at least do that.

You might be seeing the previous image from you browser cache - refresh the page after uploading a new pic to see the results.

I have tried to load up a animated avitar and cant seem to get it to do anything, tried in the jpeg and gif formats, what should i be doing that i am not.

I have combined all of the animated Avatar discussions into one thread.

An animated avitar needs to be saved as a gif. Also make sure the size is right: max 85x85 and 25kB. If you need to resize, try going to www.gifworks.com and do it there. It worked for me. Hope this helps.

There are lots of interesting websites to explore if you Google 'create animated gif' It seems you either need a gif compiler program on your PC or use one of the websites to compile it online. Lots to read...

I know the way you feel gary, it is 85 and 70% on humidity, dont even feel like going out in this, Suppose to rain here anyway. So i figured i would play with some gifs, that website GIFworks.com works really well.

The weather system that has been giving us rain for days is supposed to be shifting north, so yeah, we may be sending it your way.

I'm anxious to see what kind of gif you come up with.

The rumbling car I found seemed appropriate for a GPS site. Besides, I was getting tired of looking at my face.

I have an animated version of my avatar but it's the wrong size and I am too lame to be able to resize it properly. My avatar is 75 x 102 and I don't have a clue how to make it 85 x 85 without totally distorting the thing.

Go to www.gifworks.com and resize it there. Make sure Constrain Proportions box is checked and change the 102 to 85 only.

I like mine just the way it is.. lol

You could really add some class and style if you could just make your eagle's wings flap! Of course, this is coming from one who doesn't have an avatar....... yet.

I see you guys are having fun with the animated avatar but for some reason my browser IE6 only displays the static picture and nothing is animated.

Go under Tools/ Internet Options and the click the Advanced tab. Down the page you'll see the Multimedia heading. Make sure the 'Play animations in web pages' is checked.

It is and nothing is moving...

Do you have Zone Alarm (firewall) installed and animated gif kill-bit set in the privacy section?

resize to the 85x85 you got 66x85 dont know if that is it or not, then upload it, do a refresh and try it and hopefully that will work.
