Convert DeLorme .SAF Files

Does anyone know of a way to convert DeLorme .SAF files to a POI file that I can upload to my Garmin? I have a bunch of .SAF files from when I had a USB GPS for my laptop and would like to create POI files from them.

Hi,

Hi,

I have not used Delomre Street Atlas since about 2001 (v8 or v9), but I remember you could switch it to read the supported Garmin GPSrs. It worked fine with my Garmin GPS III.

For the new garmin models you'll need to save as Gpx file. I have no idea if more modern versions of Street Atlas support newer garmin GPSrs like the Nuvi.

I seem to recall you could do a save as gpx file which could load to an Nuvi as your favorates list or as Custom POIs.

What Garmin GPSr do you have?

Unfortunately I don't have

Unfortunately I don't have the software anymore. I currently have a Garmin c340.

What about csv POIs?

Which models are you referring to as being 'new'? Are you sure they no longer support csv POIs?

By 'new' I should have been

By 'new' I should have been technical and said GPSrs that use the USB Mass Storage device driver.

I can't recall using .cvs files with Street Atlas, but my Garmin unit at the time (GPS III) did not support imported .cvs or .gpx files. It only had waypoints which Street Atlas could read write using the Garmin protocol.

Also there are bunch of different formats called cvs files. Garmin, Navman, Destinator Navio, MioMap cvs files are different formats.

c340 and custom POIs

According to Garmin's website, the c340 accepts custom points of interest (POIs). dgstinner asked about converting to Garmin and has a c340 Garmin. To answer the question presented, we only have to be concerned with Garmin's csv POI format.

Since I've been away for awhile and not up on the latest "new" Garmin units, I wanted to make sure dgstinner can also use csv POIs, as opposed to "need to save as Gpx file", before saying so.

Nuvi's use .csv files also

As far as I know, all Nuvi's can use .CSV files for loading custom POIs. There is no requirement to save them as .GPX files.

All Nuvis can use .cvs

All Nuvis can use .cvs files, that is not what is in question. I stated about save as .gpx since I don't think Street Atlas supports Garmin .csv files.
