POI's in Nuvi 680

I am still leaning how POI's work, so please be patient with me. I have a Nuvi 680, and loaded (or so I thought) a couple different POI files via POI loader. When its finished, it say "congats, you installed x-amount poi's. However, I cannot find them in the nuvi itslef, not do I get alerts. Not sure if either of these are suppose to happen. I figured that POI's would show up on the map, or be in the nuvi in the POI folder and they don't/arent. So I guess my question is, what did I screw up. Also, when I download a poi folder, and then try to load it, I cannot select the .csv folder itself. I have to choose the main folder that all the different .csv files are in. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance for any help!

All OK

You sound like you did everything correctly. However, alerts do not typically alert by default. To set alerts, you must run POI Loader in manual mode and it will allow you to set alerts for each POI file -- one at a time. And, yes, you must point to the master folder; see the following explanation of categories provided by Motorcycle Mama:
You can have subfolders under your main folder, if you want. The folders will create categories. You can't have more than one level of subfolder. The files themselves will create the subcategory.

For example, it might look like this.

> My POI (Main folder)
>> IHOP (subfolder)
... IHOP.csv
... IHOP.bmp
>> National Parks (subfolder)
... National Parks.gpx
... National Monuments.gpx
... National Recreation areas.gpx
... National Parks.bmp
... National Monuments.bmp
etc.

In this example, IHOP and National Parks show up as categories and then under National Parks, the subcategories of National Parks, National Monuments, and National Recreation Areas show up.

Here are some screenshots of what it would look like.

This is a shot of the folder and files on my computer.

This is how the first level shows up on my Zumo.

When I select the National Parks category, this is what I get.

Then if I select National Monuments, I get this.

Assuming you meant that you cannot operate in manual mode on the Mac, you are running the wrong version of POI Loader. The beta version at Version Tracker works correctly.

Will POI loader upload the sounds and .BMP's as well, or do I manually put those in? And if so, what folder?

If you put the mp3/wav and the bmp in the same folder on the computer with the csv/gpx and you name them the same as the csv/gpx (except for the extension), POI Loader will do everything to include both within the POI.gpi it creates.

Thanks! I think I got it.

Thanks!

I think I got it. Going to go take a drive here in a bit and check it out!

simulate??

Given the price of gas you might want to let your GPS drive it for you on a route past some of your new POI's
