I can not get the alert sounds and icons to work. I downloaded all of them from this website only. Any suggestions? BTY- I love this website. I have a Garmin Nuvi 680.
Thank,

.
Can you tell us exactly what steps you've done?
Are the files named properly (no double file extensions, same names, etc.)?
Are they located properly? (ie in the same folder as each other)?
Do the POIs show up on your GPS unit with the default gray dot?
For alert sounds, did you set alerts? Are you getting the default tone?
Re?: Download Alerts And Sounds Dont Work...
Hi Daniel,
First of all, welcome to our family (the poi-factory).
In order for your alert sounds to work, they have to be named with the same prefix, as the poi file.
Suppose you have a poi named, let's say "Outback.csv"
Then in order for your Outback icon (.bmp) and Outback alert (.mp3) sound to work for that specific poi file, they have to be named exactly the same as the poi file.
For example...
Outback.csv
Outback.bmp
Outback.mp3

Thanks
Thanks for the help. I downloaded several POI's and they appear like this:
mcdonalds.cvs
mcdonalds_1.bmp
mcdonalds_d.mp3
from what you have written, I need to change the files to show exactly the same name except the extension!
I did download then from this website, but I still need to change the names?
Which is the default sound alert? some POI files have 2 or 3 different sounds, like McDonalds, or McDonalds ahead. They still dont match mcdonalds.cvs I need to change them to match the .cvs name???
thanks,
Daniel.
That's correct...
The names must be exactly the same...just the ext should be different...

Yes
Yes, you do need to change the file names. The files on here are grouped together to make them easy to find, but the names may be different. This is especially true if there are several sound or pic files associated with a single/multiple POI.
The default sound alert is the BONG BONG you hear when approaching a POI you have set to alert without an associated .mp3 file.

Hi Daniel,
In order for the McDonalds.csv (not .cvs) file to work with it's associated icon and .mp3, the 3 files have to be named thusly...
mcdonalds.csv
mcdonalds.bmp
mcdonalds.mp3
Hope that clears it up...
