Cannot mount nuvi 200W on 10.4

When I plug my Nuvi 200W into the USB cable, it comes back with a warning about an uninitialized drive.
I tell it to ignore and all I see is the SD card get mounted.
When I use disk utility, I see the raw device, but it's file system is some kind of PGP blah blah blah.
Am I missing something?
An update
I did make a disk image from the top level device and was able to mount it. It came up named GARMIN and I see all kinds of goodies.
Please tell me that I don't need to change the image and restore it over the raw device to make my changes?
