Like it

I like it for its crystal glass effect and also new features like for example you can very easily unsubscribe from mailing lists and change message backgrounds and more.

Liquid Glass feature

Interestingly enough I went to my local Best Buy yesterday to see what the fuss is all about with respect to the Liquid Glass feature. They had a demo model with iPadOS 26 and I wasn't crazy about what I saw. That being said I have some visual problems at age 82 that may have made things worse. The sales person did the “fix” of reducing the transparency setting but I think I’ll keep my version 18+++ for now.

On a side note, the sales person said several 11th generation units with version 26++ have been returned and are available as refurbished.

Updated

Updated to the Public Beta 26.1 and Safari is still an issue on my phones. The iPad no longer connects to the App Store.

eye candy

I have not updated ANY of my eight+ devices (including two MacBook Airs) due to this Liquid Glass "feature". From what I've seen in online videos and demonstrations, visibility is diminished with this "feature". It may look "cool" (for awhile) but that's all it is...visual candy.

Why should I sacrifice my usability & visibility for the sake of some petty eye candy that makes things harder to see?

Liquid glass

This feature can be turned off if so desired. One of the nice features is that you can increase the size of the time display on your home screen.

Liquid Glass cannot be disabled

There is no "turn off Liquid Glass totally" toggle. There are a couple of accessibility options like "Increase Contrast" and "Reduce Transparency" that may help minimize the visibility issues and transparencies. This can help to make things a bit clearer and easier to see but Liquid Glass is embedded in the operating system (icons, screen elements, etc) for good...or for when/if Apple decides to allow users to fully disable it in the future. The options I mentioned above to tone down the effects are only band-aids covering a wound that continues to bleed.

Also, adding all these visual effects use more system resources from the device which can lead to reduced performance, especially if you are using an older device.

Just a word of warning to those wanting to upgrade to the latest. Read, view and research all you can before before upgrade. You cannot go back to the previous version on iOS or iPadOS once you've upgraded. Note that you can however do so on macOS but it can be involved and you need a backup of your data (Time Machine) under the OS you are upgrading from to retain it in case you want to go back.

Update

Looks like Apple was in too big of a hurry to check everything before releasing this update.
I'm not upgrading.

Finally saw the feature

…and not liking it. If there was some way to roll it back to 18.x I would give it a try.

One thing I find interesting is there is already a car care product with the trademark “Liquid Glass”. Is there any form of trade mark infringement?
