I recently downloaded a custom poi and put on my GPS Garmin StreetPilot C550. I did the manual input and had download the sound for golf courses. When I used my GPS to go to the golf course all I get is a double bell and not a voice stating " approaching a golf course ". Is there anything I forgot to do? The sound for the golf course is in the same file as the golf course.

Are the two files named the

Are the two files named the same?

No they are to separate file names. Is that what I did wrong? I need to rename both to the same file name?

Hi golfer02,

Yes, the associated file names have to be identical. The extensions are, of course, different (eg. .csv, .mp3 or .bmp).

For example, this is how your associated POI files should be named:
golfcourse.csv
golfcourse.bmp
golfcourse.mp3

In conclusion, whatever your POI file is named, the associated files (.mp3 or .bmp) "must" have the same file name, in order to work in conjunction with that POI file.

HTH (hope that helps)

Filenames

The filename characters to the left of the dot (.) must be identical. The file extension (the 3 characters to the right of the dot), must be csv for the POI file and mp3 for the audio file, just as in bluestring's example.

EDIT: DANG! tailspin beat me to it.

Adding proximity sounds

Just want to thank you all for your help

Proximity Sounds

Do the Proximity files (.csv, .mp3, .bmp) have to be instaled on the unit only, or will they work from a removable disc?

Card OK

All of these files reside on the computer and are loaded via the POI Loader application. POI Loader can place them on the unit or a card. There are one or two units that use the SD card strictly for maps, but you should be fine.
