Just in case someone is looking to upgrade their GPS - Costco in Canada has new Garmin Nuvi 7670's on for $389.99 from the 12th to the 25th of May. Fantastic buy - best I could find both North and South of the border. I ordered one on Monday morning and got it Tuesday afternoon - very nice unit.

GPS City has it for $399.95

For those who are in the US GPS City has it for $399.95. Its a sweat deal considering there is no tax to pay.

Maps of US and Europe

Does anyone have suggestions on a unit with both US maps and Europe maps? Should I buy one with preloaded maps or buy the maps later?

Maps for all of Europe cost

Maps for all of Europe cost $149.00 - compare the price of the units which have only NA maps and those that offer both. If you can load maps and can wait a few days for delivery then compare the units on price and pick the best value.

I got it the next day. It

I got it the next day. It even came with a free map update - though 2 GB download can take a while.

That sounds like a good

That sounds like a good value. I got a Nuvi 660 at amazon for $315.00 a couple of weeks ago.

Also, Sam's Club have a Nuvi

Same Cradle?

I have a proclip for my Nuvi 660, and I installed the wiring behind the dash. Does the 760 use the same cradle as the 660? Same traffic receiver?

Nuvi 760

I just got my Nuvi760 today sweet grin , now downloading the map update, just as my 360 it does not like my BB Pearl, but that may change, I have a new BB coming (for another reason) tomorrow I hope.

Now I need a case, and I don't know if my old beanbag will work with it.

I just got a 760 about a week ago and I'm finding new things with it everyday. It is quite the powerful machine, I'm not sure how I ever did without. I just bought the blitzsafe aux maker and will probably hook it up this weekend. I'm using this to avoid using the fm transmitter as it is not perfect.

Not the same cradle!

Your cradle (Im assuming this is the charging connection) and no, both units have different cradle/connections, but the FM traffic receiver should be the same, but if you care to, you could also purchase a MSN direct receiver that will work with the 760 as well.

Note: a new 760 comes with its own cradle/connection, so no need to worry about it being different from the 660 charging/connection cradle.

Upgraded to 760 - Impressions

I upgraded from a 660 to a 760. Best Buy matched the Costco price, so I didn't have to wait.

I promised myself I would not buy again from Garmin after the 660. Guess I am just an idiot.

First, I had a ProClip for the 660. The ProClip works perfectly with the 760. The cradle is different, but the ball joint is the same size. No replacement was necesssary.

760 Much nicer looking, thinner than 660.

760 HAS A MAP SCALE ON THE SCREEN. See ... Garmin has the technology to do it if they want. But why ... just have their loyal customers buy a whole new GPS to get that feature. Better for profits that way.

760 Actually displays the names of many roads on the screen unlike the 660 dismal road labelling.

760 You can create custom routes with MapSource and download them to the GPS. Also, you can upload your tracks from the 760 to Mapsource.

760 Satellite acquire time and accurracy seems on par with 660 ... 760 does not have flip out antenna.

760 DOES NOT come with carrying case or AC adapter.

760 Registered and downloaded the 2009 maps without incident.

760 seems to have a more sensitive / lighter touch screen.

I am quite happy with the 760. It is what the 660 should have been. Garmin had no business releasing the 660 for sale to anyboy and are irresponsible for not releasing firmware updates to correct some of the basic GPS features purposely left out.

For those looking to upgrade from a earlier GPS (or a 660), C$389.99, the 760 for that price is well worth it.

I think the Costco sale is over now, but I saw them at Best Buy for $799 and Future Shop for $449. I am sure if you shop around, you can find a low advertised price and then get a big box store to price match.

Beginning June 2,

Beginning June 2, for 1 week, www.costco.com will offer the Nuvi 760 for $349.99 and shipping and handling is included. Meanwhile, at the local Costco store, I notice the Nuvi 680 has dropped to $349.99 as well.

You beat me to it. Can anybody tell me how the FM transmitter works? Sound quality, dedicated channel?

FM Transmitter

I love my new 760 except for two things - When you are navigating a route, your current speed is no longer shown, and the FM trannsmitter is unusable.

Even with the Nuvi stuck to the windshield located a few feet from the radio antenna, there is a lot of noise and the signal strength changes if the power cord is moved.

Your speed should still show in the left hand corner if you have not input a destination. If you have input a destination hold down the left hand corner and you will get more information than you probably need including speed.

I have a 750 and the fm transmitter is awful..
