Custom Waypoints, Different Maps?

We'll be going on a two week photo safari in northern Arizona and southern Utah in the middle of January.

Some of the locations we want to photograph from are well off the paved roads. This shouldn't be a problem in our Jeep. I have set up a number of way points via Google Earth to get us to/from the locations we'll shoot from using my Nuvi 260.

I've noticed that many Forest Roads, etc. are shown in the street map version, but more are shown in the Topo maps.

I understand that there is no street routing available in the US Topos, but I am assuming that any pois I create for one map will also be displayed in another. IOW, the way points I am creating for each turn on these back country roads will still be useful and displayed if I install and select the Topos. Is this correct?

Also, if I understand correctly, I can purchase the Topos on an SD card and choose that map set when I want to use the topos, but leave the street map set installed on the 260 all the time. Yes?

Thanks

topo maps

I hae a Nuvi 660 and have installed a topo map for a local area. Both the topo and street maps are installed on my gps. The topo I have installed is for my local town, so it overlays on top of the street map. No problem having them both installed though. Good luck with your trip.

NICE!

Thanks! I hadn't even considered that more than one map can be displayed at any given time. That'll be a great help during this trip.
