Stolen!!!

Well my nuvi 680w was stolen last night and was wondering if I really needed a 680 or if there was another wide screen nuvi out there that does the same stuff for less money. Don't need the Microsoft Live thing and all i really did was load POI files on it.Never used the MP3 player or the Bluetooth.
Any suggestions on a replacement or just get another 680?
Thanks,
Brian

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

Stolen on the 19th, pawned

Stolen on the 19th, pawned on the 21st, recovered on the 22nd and returned on the 23rd. Looks like the police uploading serial numbers to pawn shops really works!

Yourself a favor...

Like someone else said above...get a bean bag mount..that way no suction cup evidence is left on the windshield!

Bean bag is the way to go

The bean bag is definitely the way to go. It's a lot easier to move between my car and my wife's and to shove out of sight when I get out.

bean bag

Amazon has the bean bags for much lower then Circuit City does.... about 1/2 the price.

It's not a knock off, it's the true Garmin friction mount.

Sad to hear another stolen

Sad to hear another stolen GPS ...
Last month, within GTA - Toronto Police issue a public warning about an increase in GPS theft activity.

The best way to avoid loosing your GPS and additional costs like a smashed side window:
1.Register your GPS - manufacturer website.
2.Prevention:
- don't let the GPS visible on your car;
- lock your car and roll-up all windows.
3.Report as soon is possible the theft to police and to manufacturer.
4.check the ebay or craiglist within a month for offers of a similar GPS device in your area - a lucky shot wink

If they will...

got it back today from CPD. Now i need to find a windshield mount. Mine is gone without a trace!

I see you got a bean-bag instead, good move! For anyone left who does not have one yet, you may want to leave it [windshield mount] gone without a trace!

If you use a bean-bag instead of that windshield mount, AND do it the right way, --there will be NO hint of a GPS to interest the next thief to come along.

Bean-bags can be hidden when you're away. Whereas, even if you take the windshield-mount with you, you still need to wash your windshield every time or there will be the tell-tale ring (suction-cup mark) which thief's are looking for.

Even if you take it all with you each time, yet have that suction-cup mark... you may still be left with your next smashed-in window just so they can check your possibly empty glove box.
