Garmin POI Loader is not recognizing the.csv custom POI

POI Loader is not recognizing the.csv custom POI that I downloaded from this site. When I run POI Loader and browse to the location of the .csv file, it is grayed out and cannot be added.

Which file

What file are you talking about?

Is it in the same file as the rest of your POIs?

What OS are you using?

Are you trying to select the file or the folder? POILoader loads all the files in a folder, not a specific file.

If you are trying to do the latter, please read the faq on loading POIs to get a good understanding of how to do this properly.

Garmin POI Loader is not recognizing the.csv custom POI

Glenn,
I downloaded a file called free wifi.csv and put it in my documents folder. I am using Mac 10.5.2 and have a Garmin Nuvi 650. When I use the POI Loader and browse to my documents, the file is there but it is gray and not selectable.

forget the file

You don't choose the file, only the folder that contains the file.

That is why it is suggested you make a master folder and call it My POI (or something to your liking)then either create more folders inside that one or if you only have one csv dump it in that My POI folder or inside any subfolder to create different categories.

Try this

Put the csv file in a separate folder on your desktop. Title the folder anything you want; I use "Custom POI's". Then browse for the folder and use the POI Loader to download the entire folder, not just the csv file. You can put as many files as you want in that folder. You can even put folders in that folder (just one level of folders). That's the way it works on PC's, so I'm assuming it is the same with Macs.

.

That is because POILoader loads all the files in a folder. You cannot select just a file to load.

And also remember that if you run POILoader to load POIs onto the unit, all previous POIs will be deleted. You must reload all of them at the same time.

Please read the FAQs section at the top to get a good understanding of how this works.
