How to pull a favorite off of nuvi to convert to poi?

EasyGPS is a simple program that will send favorites from GPS to your computer. http://www.easygps.com/

Got this but is still does not pull of the description or address of the waypoint which is what I want.

Once you have the data pulled off you should be able to edit everything.

Thats just it. I dont want to have to re edit it. On my device as a favorite it shows the address and phone, but when I pull it off with easyGPS is somehow deletes this info that I want. What I ultimately want to do is be able to create a fair amount of POIs by this nature.

Not sure why you are having problem.I looked at the file I made from my favorites and the information is there.I went back and ran the process again to see what steps I took.Click on gps,receive from gps and put check mark in waypoints.Everything showed up at bottom of screen.Went to file and clicked on save as and was saved as gpx file.From there went to GPS Visualizer http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/geocoding.html click on convert a file and converted to csv file.

Make sure when using EasyGps you widen the columns out to see all the data like you do excel.

I have EasyGPS but it does not seem to see my Nuvi 750. Any thoughts?

1) Use Mapsource to retrieve your favorites.

2) Edit your favorites to list you wish to save as a POI list.

3) Save the file as a .gpx file. Pick "Save As" and switch the "Save as type:" to "GPS eXchange format (*.gpx)"

4) Copy your gpx file to your POI list directory. Use subdirectories for multiple POI files.

5) Use POI Loader to load the .gpx file(s)

It should work.Did you add your unit to gps list?When you come on the main page of EasyGPS click on edit then preferences.A screen will pop up to add your GPS.Make sure Gps unit hooked to computer using the usb cable .Also in the help menu read Getting started with EasyGPS.

I'm not sure what you're trying to do. The favorites are already saved as a gpx file in:
[your GPS drive]\Garmin\gpx\current.gpx.

If you're wanting to save it as a gpx file on your computer, copy it over to the computer.

If you're wanting to load it on the GPS as a Custom POI, point the POI Loader to that file and load it.

If you're wanting to save it as a gpi file on the computer, use the option of the new version of POI Loader (2.5.2) to save it on the computer as a gpi file.

Yes I know they are saved as a gpx file.In my case I change them to a csv file and save them on my computer for personal reference and to manage.If schupaul wants to sent them stright to computer from Easy Gps he has that option. But right now he has problem getting all the information pulled from the GPS unit to show up.gpfoster unit not showing up on EasyGPS.

Additional software is unnecessary because, as I stated above, the current.gpx file is already in the same format as the Custom POI gpx. If the information he requested to be transferred to the Custom POI is contained in his Favorites file, it will be transferred to the Custom POI.

Maybe we are both reading something different.My understanding is when he pulls his favorites from gps unit and looks on the EasyGPS screen it does not show the description or address of the waypoint which is what he wants so he can create some poi's from them. schupaul wrote:

I have been playing around with some new favorites my self and I had a Cracker Barrel show up with only the name on the EasyGPS screen.Not sure what is going on with that.

Which version of POI Loader are you using? ... not V2.5.2 by any chance?

Had not seen that post.When I pulled my orginial favorites from GPS using EasyGPS they all showed up with the all the information.Try some new ones just playing around and found information missing on one.I am using the latest POI Loader and don't believe that is a problem since orginial favorites showed all info.

I was talking about EasyGPS, NOT -> POI Loader.

I read your post and understand your problem with EasyGPS and may have to re-think using it. This was refered by other members to use if you didn't want to use mapsource.So I have been trying it out to see what it can do.I have the mapsource disk but since I only want to manage my favorites I was hoping this may be a alternative.

I went to the help section on the site and it says that my unit stores all information on the card, so that is all it sees/looks for.

I have informed them of their mistake.
