Has anyone tried Licks burgers and what do you think?

Ok. Burger Hut has consistently been voted the best burgers in the area. They had one restaurant for about a zillion years and finally opened a second spot. It seems that they are now starting to franchise - hope it doesn't go downhill.

I have the info for the ones here in Chico and one in Yuba City. The web site has addresses for a couple more that are apparently going to open up in a couple of other towns but they aren't actually open yet so I didn't geocode them.

This is definitely not a "big franchise" but does seem to be growing all of a sudden.

In my opinion the best burger in Utah,
definitely a mom and pop operation although they have since opened a few more elsewhere in the Salt Lake valley but this is the original and in my opinion still the best. For those of you that don't know what fry sauce is you must try their fries with some.

I can't help much with Arizona or So Cal, but I am currently working on a similar project for Texas, which will supplement my "Texas Picnic Areas" POI for bikers.

I am using as a reference, "Ride Texas Magazine" which polls it readers several times a year for best rides, best lodging for bikers, best BB-Q, Burgers, Breakfast, etc.

Perhaps California or Arizona has a similar publication that might be a good reference for you.

Tried the one in Tempe. Wouldn't call it great. An orginal greasy spoon means freshly pattied patty cooked on a hot grill. No frozen. If a hamburger can't stand alone without all the extra's it's not a hamburger. Just give us a bun, pickle, onion and lots of mustard..... along with the fresh hamburger at least 80% need a little taste in there.

Not hamburgers but what about the Weber's Root Beer in Tulsa Oklahoma.... There is none better....
They also have great hamburgers at there stand in Tulsa.

I give a strong second to Doc_Brown's comments. Their frozen custard is the finest in Wisconsin. Once you have it you'll not be satisfied with soft serve or ice cream again.

My favorite burger comes from my home town in West Lafayette, Indiana: the Triple XXX, “Indiana’s First Drive-In Restaurant is still the finest”. “On the hill, but always on the level, since 1929” Definitely in the Mom & Pop category and was also featured in “Diners. Drive-Ins and Dives”:
