Missing GO button when I create my own POI files in POI Edit Program

Please forgive me if this has been discussed elsewhere. I did a search for go button and more than 41 pages came up and of course the word GO is in all of them.

Briefly I am creating a list of coords in PoiEdit and am putting in a few words for description and then the lat and long numbers.

When I load them to my C340 they come up OK, but when I select one of them the large green GO button is not there.

If I select -show map- it pops up nicely and THERE IS a green go button there, but I would like to eliminate that step and have the large GO button show just one screen before that.

Any thoughts? Thanks for any help!

.

That's odd. I don't think I've ever heard anyone have that error.

I couple of things to check.

Be sure that the coordinates are in the correct order in the file. (ie check to be sure that you haven't reverse the latitude and the longitude)

Be sure that the coordinates are in the correct hemisphere N (or positvie), W (or negative) for North America.

Or maybe other c340 users can confirm that this is how the c340 works.

Coords are correct...just green go button missing

Yes, everything works right and when pushing the -show map- button a map comes up and correctly shows the location. For instance Pyramid Lake coords pointer comes up right next to the correctly shaped lake off I-5 in Southern CA.

At that point I can push a SMALL green go button in the menu bar at the bottom and it will calculate and bring up the route map.

Everything works right except no BIG green go button at initial level after choosing the destination.

I have looked at all other POI files I have either downloaded or otherwise created and I see nothing different.

Hmmmmmmm

On my C340 I get the Large "GO" button when I bring up an individual Custom POI and the "show map" gives me the bmp icon AND the small "GO" button at the bottom.

I am running V4.4

Yep, it's curious

I have now called up an existing file (downloaded from this site) and have done an insert of just one of my own POI locations.

When I then load this to the c340, the newly inserted poi DOES come up with the large green button.

Must be something I am doing wrong when I create a file from scratch. I am creating a Garmin CSV poi file using PoiEdit and am keeping it very simple with just a small description and the lat and long.

Maybe I need to look into gpx files and then converting them to csv ?

Thanks for the comments...keep them coming.

Does your file name have

Does your file name have some numerals in it? I had EXACTLY the same thing happen when I created a POI file called "Pizza 73". My Nuvi seems to think that "73" in the file name has something to do with alert information.

POILoader Help regarding "Understanding Speed and Proximity Alert Information" states "POI Loader determines speed information based on the following information, listed from highest to lowest priority:"
1. xxx
2. xxx
3. Speed information included in the file name. POI Loader interprets any numbers in the file name as speed information.

FYI tapping on my Pizza 73 destinations brings up:
Alert information:
Distance: 730m
Speed: 73km/h
Speed: 73km/h

Let us know if this helps

Amazing, the power of many users coming together on a forum!

YEP, THAT WAS IT !

I had the number 2 at the end of the file name and once I took that off and then reloaded the file to the c340 the BIG GREEN GO button came right up!

If in my original post I had indicated that the proximity alert data was coming up your answer might have come even faster! The 2 at the end of my file name showed as a 2 mph speed on the proximity alert note that came up with the destination name.

Still, it's this kind of ODD happening that makes forums like this so valuable as we exchange ideas and help.

MANY THANKS!
