Chatty Charley thread for the week of February 25th 2008

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Have fun...

This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.

Snow / Heat?

Our weather turned really warm (80°'s), so that meant yard work. Now, tomorrow it's going to be in the 50°'s. I guess I'll just sit by the fire and eat pop-corn.

Change of Subject

Has anyone ever (or thought about it) went from friend to friend's houses for a trip (instead of hotels). Thought that would be sorta cool (if everyone could be trusted) if ppl could stay the night with different members, but I am sure that there would be much apprehension, but still a cool idea. There are a few here that I would trust

Speaking of the weather

Speaking of the weather, I really like it here in sunny California but it's getting a little cold for my taste. I will be leaving for the East cape (between Cabo San Lucas & La Paz, Baja Sir, MX) to warmer temperature smile Won't need my GPS as it is one road in and the same road out. Fishing and Scuba everyday for two weeks.

I just had to tell someone:))

Leaving AZ for island vacation

The wife and I are leaving in one week for 10 days in Hawaii. We'll be going to three islands. I'm taking the Nuvi to use in the rental car. I also want to see if it'll work on the plane. I'll need to ask the pilot since we're flying on Hawaiian Airlines.

Interesting idea. Mensa has "SIGHT"(Service of Information, Guidance and Hospitality to Travelers) which does something similar, by matching people who are traveling with people who are willing to host them. But that's a long-standing, organized system. I don't know how one would start something like that from scratch.

Snow in Chicago

There's been so much snow and so frequent that I can't remember what the ground looks like without the white stuff. And I'm almost out of rock salt of which I started with 100 pounds at the beginning of this winter season.

Too bad for us our neighbor next door stopped shovelling her sidewalk; it's now a solid chunk of ice.

Firefox

Hi auggie, I have been using firefox since version one without any problems, except for the odd site that only caters for explorer (rare now). My way around that is "there is always another company with the same product" grin .
When you look at all the add-ons and extensions that are available for firefox and thunderbird (mail) the choice is easy.
I do have explorer 7 for one site that I have to access for my job and I do find it way slower than the fox...

Any leap year birthdays?

Happy Birthday to anyone who has a birthday today.

On another subject, when I got up this morning it was -4 (Worcester County, MA - all hills).
Forecast for tonight, new snow storm 7 inches of snow, on top of the 5 inches we had a few days ago.

The dust is getting thick on the motorcycle. Spring can't come soon enough!
