Which Files?

Hi Everyone,

I hear talk about backing up my favorites off my nuvi 660 however, where are they located on the unit and what is the file name? I have all my custom POI files stored on the SD card and I'm cool with how to backup that data but like I said, which files on the nuvi itself do I need to backup?

Thanks Much!!

Clint

Should be H:\Garmin\Poi\

Should be H:\Garmin\Poi\ where H is the drive that the Garmin shows up as.

The Nüvi keeps a backup copy of the your Favourites in \GPX\Current.gpx.

So if I backup the a copy of

So if I backup the a copy of the GPX file onto my computer, then if something happens I should just be able to drag and drop that file from my computer to the nuvi and be back in business? .......Right?!

Correct, from what I

Correct, from what I understand, when the nuvi boots up, it scans for all gpx files and loads the content into your favorites and then the gpx file (current.gpx) that is under the gpx folder is a concatentation of all gpx files.

Why Not Backup the Entire Nuvi 660

I've been backing up the entire nuvi drive under the assumption that i can restore the entire thing if something goes wrong. anything wrong with this assumption?

Randy

It's Ok

It's Clint45, just in case you forgot smile

Depends

It depends what goes wrong. If one of the files get deleted or corrupted, then yeah, replacing them should do the trick. Otherwise, if something else is wrong with the system, then probably not.
