I suspect this has already been discussed on this site so please help with a node link. I have a map which I made with mapman and would like to make it possible to have my nuvi670 find the streets and use them for routes. Is there a topic location I can read to see how this is done
Me again!
...to make it possible to have my nuvi670 find the streets ...
The 'finding' part's not working at the moment. AIUI, the current version of cgpsmapper can only build the data structures for a non-NT type map...and the current Nüvi/Zümo/StreetPilots can only search 'NT' types. (Or something like that).
The streets from the free NZ map ended up here, to be turned into Custom POIs, which of course, are searchable.

Where is here?

So the simple answer is there is no simple answer!

By ending up here you mean on this site? And by NZ you mean New Zealand?
Routing problems or non existant!
Phil,
Are you saying that I should just be happy I have the roads indicated on my nuvi and that at this time making them part of the system for routing purposes isn't realistic for a newbie like me and one should wait for the powers that be to update their maps?
The reason I want to be able to have them as part of the system is I know where I'm going in most of the city I live in. It is the new areas that I have trouble with.
You Again !!
BTW I expected you to be the one to know about such and answer my questions. Thanks.

Well the Kiwi's got theirs routing by using Mapcenter2...so it's do-able! ... Where's there's a will, there's a way

If the modern 'automotive' units understood the older format maps that cgpsmapper is currently producing, all your streets (and embedded POIs) would show up in the built-in categories, and address searches. At the moment, there's a mismatch, so they don't. This has to be worked around using Custom POIs until such time as cgpsmapper is updated.
The routing stuff is something I haven't attempted yet - so I don't know how much effort is required in getting it working. The source for the NZ map probably makes a good tutorial.
