C530 memory and map update

I purchased a 1 GB SD card with the expressed purpose to download the new maps to. But I had second thoughts. How much memory does it take to load the new City Navigator 2008 maps to a C530? Is it possible to delete voice files, vehicle files to the minimum to clear the C530 memory enough to load the US and Ontario Canada maps directly to the GPSr? What files besides the non English voices and one vehicle can be sent packing?
I only need US and Ontario maps; I won’t be driving to Hawaii or Puerto Rico or Alaska soon.

Space for the new update

Space for the new update takes a little over 1GB.

Yes, you can delete voices and vehicles that you don't want to use. I would backup first though although you can redownload them again.

There is an update file taht you can delete as well. I cann't remember the name, something like GUPUPDATE so something.

Update space

Thanks asianfire for the infomation. Is that 1GB include the entire update? If it is then the maps I need (US & Ontario) should total some what less. What is the size of the memory of the C530? Anyone?

The c530

has 1 gig memory. Not enough for the US and Canada maps no matter how much you delete. The US maps take more than 900 meg alone. Canada is about 400 meg.

You can install the Canada map to the SD card and have them both available at the same time.

The C530 has a nominal 1GB of storage. I think it's a little less than a GB after formating.

I have 3 active maps

by putting a small one named gmapsupp in the unit memory along with CN NA 2008. It's for Michigan waterways and lights. I also have the Canada map on my SD card named gmapsupp. The unit picks up all three maps and I can have them all loaded at the same time, or choose any 1 or 2 of them that I want.

Right now, I have 3 map sets on the SD card. I can use any 1 of them simply by copying it as gmapsupp.
