Version 2.40

Version 2.40 was the latest release on 12/23 when I updated my Nüvi 750 from Ver 2.10 to 2.40.

The "latest" release, Ver 2.30, is "current" as of 12/28.

Interesting.

750 Version

I think I'm still on the 2.30. I sugned up for the email notification from Garmin whenever updates come out. So far I haven't received any emails.

Does the Webupdater still say you are current?

ver 2.5 is on the webupdater

In case you haven't heard like I mentioned earlier in this thread about the possibility for the new v2.5. Well it is up and posted for downloading from the webupdater.

The new update for 7xx units as of Jan 11 that includes the new MSN Direct Services and also reduces the signal acquisition time.

Quote:

Changes from version 2.30 to version 2.50:
Reduced signal acquisition time.
Added support for news, stocks, local events, and send to GPS. See garmin.msndirect.com for compatible devices.
Changes from version 2.20 to version 2.30:
Improve reception while driving through areas of intermittent signal.
Acquire data faster when driving into a new coverage area.

I think Garmin has done away

I think Garmin has done away with email notifications. Now they want you to just use Webupdater.

MSN Direct on Nuvi 760

I wonder if those enhanced MSN Direct features will work on a 760 if the MSN receiver is purchased or will we need to use a 780 or 880 for the upgrade to work.

I have a 760 and the updates

I have a 760 and the updates from Webupdater worked fine

RE: I have a 760 and the updates

Are you using MSN Direct for traffic bobshort1?

I used the webupdater today

I used the webupdater today for my nuvi 750, it came factory with version 2.40. All the webupdater did was suggest to update the msn services and a few foreign voice options. It works fine the way it is..always fast on startup etc..

Yes, I do use the traffic

Yes, I do use the traffic when I am in Dallas proper. I live about 30 miles north, but I compare it to the traffic reports and MSN traffic is usually right on.

Yep, the 2.4 seems to work

Yep, the 2.4 seems to work fine. If you have a 700 series, the MSN v2 is a plus.

You should really like your 750

Ok so does my nuvi 750

Ok so does my nuvi 750 support all of this msn, traffic etc? How do you activate all of that? And I started out with a nuvi 200, wife took that, then a nuvi 350, buddy wanted that now I have the 750.. NO ONE'S getting that..lol Love the 750..

You hve to buy the MSN

You hve to buy the MSN receiver

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=8526

It comes with a 1 yr membership, then it is about $50 per year to renew. When you get it and activate it, it gives you an option of purchasing an additional 6 months for only $9.99, which I thought was a good deal.

I think you will like MSN Direct

i see it gets weather..being

i see it gets weather..being a ham radio operator and a trained skywarn spotter...here's the big question..can u get satellite and radar pics from this service? or just text forecasts?

.

The nuvi units do not support Nexrad which would be necessary for radar pics.

This is available on marine and aviation units that support XM Satellite Weather. Not to be confused with the weather reports that come with XM Nav Traffic.

Just the current temp and a

Just the current temp and a 3 day forecast of major cities. I live about 30 miles north of Dallas, so I can get Dallas or some cities close to me, which works. Just gives basic info, what the high and low will be.

My wife and daughter love the movie theater info as I generally lose my gpsr to them on weekends hahaha.

The gas info is pretty close, too.

I still like the fact that I can go onto maps.live.com and find an address of somewhere I need to go and send it to my GPSr. Pretty sharp. I guess you have to have a hotmail email address, since it is MSN, but it is free to get one.

Not really sure how the sending to your GPS really works, but it does and it is great.

aw "nuts"..but anyways it is

aw "nuts"..but anyways it is a nice unit.and..am having lots of fun creating custom poi's...

Yes, the 750 is a great

Yes, the 750 is a great unit.

loushi: Motorcycle Mama has it covered

You could get satellite & radar on a laptop with an air-card, or a EVDO capable cell phone tethered to the laptop as a modem...or, a higher-end PDA/Smart cell phone with an unlimited data plan and spend less money than the solutions Motorcycle Mama mentions.

Changes made from version 2.50 to 2.60:

Correct issue with proximity alarm points in MadMaps
Add Compliance warning pages for FM transmitter
Add support for Canadian traffic from MSN.

Not mentioned above but also seems to add

My Nuvi 750 has worked flawlessly till...I installed the latest firmware update a week or so ago..now the thing gets lost, the vehicle icon is on the sidewalk half the time, and it gets "stuck" while navigating then finds itself minutes later. Nothing has changed in its position in the vehice, or in its use. Going to shoot off an e-mail to tech support to see if anyone else is having these symptoms..

I updated mine

And it has behaved fine.

But...the one I upgraded is a replacement Nuvi750 - the first one I got had issues where it would take at least 10 min to lock satellites, lose lock in wide open spaces...So loushi's contacting tech support is the best way to go - they had me do some things like resets, etc...and eventually gave me an RMA & their UPS number to send it back, and they replaced my unit and this one has worked fine.
