Garmin 250W satellite screen

How does one access the satellite screen on the nuvi 250W. I read through the faq and all the 250 posts but I don't see anything there. I have tried pressing the signal bar but "nothing" This would be useful.

Thanks

on my nuvi 200w if you push on the signal bar for 5 to 8 seconds and then let go it brings up the satellite screen. should be the same on the 250w.

Ya'll have to press it for a long time? wow, I only have to tap it once, and it comes up. Of course, I have the 350, so it apparently works different.

Has anyone found a good description of what all that stuff is on the Sat. screen?

Yeah, I just hold my finger

Yeah, I just hold my finger on the bars for a few seconds and it pops up. What do all the bars with numbers mean in the lower corner? I figure sat strength and which staelite, but even if mine shows 4 bars with what seem like good strength the GPs has a hard time figuring where it is. Sometimes takes a long time to lock on.

Yep! 4 to 8 seconds is

Yep! 4 to 8 seconds is about right on my 250W too.

Accuracy

I also have the 250w and is the same way.

Now, my question is. What is the best accuracy that anyone has been able to achieve with the 250W?

The usual accuracy that I see in mine is about 19ft. Is that any good? This is my fist GPS and I'm curious to see how it fairs against other units.

Thanks.

< 30

as long as I get < 30 ft., I am happy. I would say my average is about 12-15 ft.

Interesting that the 200W has a satellite screen.

Interesting that the 200W has a satellite screen. I don't think any of the 2xx units have it.

On my eTrex (my nüvi doesn't have the satellite screen) this shows the satellites in the sky. The rings show elevation above horizon and bearing related to true north. The highlighted satellite numbers are the ones that the GPSr has a lock on.

I've seen as good as 11 or 12 feet, usually it hangs out in the 15-20 ft range.

I just tried the same thing on my c340 on the battery icon and got all kinds of read outs.I know one thing I don't need to be playing around there with all them settings

350 is different than the 250w

I concur with the above. My father-in-law has a 350 and I just have to tap his satellite strength icon to bring up the satellite page. But, on my 250w, I have to hold for 5-8 seconds. You have to be careful not to touch too far down or you will trigger the "Whereto" icon.

It works on my Nuvi 250w.

It didn't work on my first 250w - I returned it and got another unit. It works on the new unit. The first unit was upgraded to software ver. 2.90 using webupdater. The new unit has not and has software ver 2.70

Not sure if the problem was due to the software update or a defective unit.

How to roll back upgrade

Slightly off topic here but what does ver 2.90 have over 2.70? Could find not reference to it on Garmin.com

Any way to roll back to 2.70 if the unit is upgraded to 2.90?

Garmin has removed the manual update files for the 2xx

Garmin has removed the manual update files for the 2xx from their website. There is a third party site that has the files available, which you can use to go back to a previous version. I don't remember which thread had the URL.

Doesn't .....

Doesn't work on the Nuvi 200 either. Seems to work on the 250W/200W but not on 250/200.

Anyone had success with the 250/200?

Satellite icon & Battery icon

I will try my new Nuvi260W in the a.m. and post results. I am curious about the battery icon as well. I did not realize this info was even veiwable on the auto GPS systems. Thanks for the tips.
I have an old Magellan Meridian hand held, and the satellites are a menu screen. Not hidden

satellite bars into satellite details

NUVI260W
It worked. I touched the bar strength icon for about 2/4 seconds and removed my finger. (from screen smile ) And WALLA - satellite details galore.
Have not tried battery icon trick yet.
Wonder why Garmin does not explain this nifty feature. Though very useless, it is still interesting non the less (in my opinion).
