Chatty Charley thread for the week of December 31st 2007

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Have fun...

This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.

Got speeding ticket today

I am so bummed out. I wasn't even trying to speed and I got hit with laser. They changed the speed limit over the holiday and it was the first time since then that I returned to work. Great way to start off the week!!!!!

Thanks for letting me vent. Co-workers are tired of hearing about it.

Remember, everyone...

The GPS will only tell/show you the way home. It won't drive the car for you. So if you go out partying tonight, be responsible and have a designated driver.

(NOTE: this is NOT a reply to any prior comment!)

And that is why you will

And that is why you will find me on here most of the night...lol. Besides, have 8 pages that I haven't read. I promise to not comment on all threads.

Speeding Ticket -

asianfire - sorry you got the ticket. It's a pain in the whatever when they change the rules on you while you're off for the holidays. Hope your New Year is free of tickets.

Everyone - have a safe and exceptionally Happy New Year. If you who are going out for the evening, please take care of yourselves and others around you. Be safe, be careful, and have fun.

Why trade when you have both.

Got both, but laser is deadly and there isn't much that you can do. Except for laser jammers.

Not sure how useful they will be unless you are a local.

Sounds like an expensive way to "find" a coordinate!

Oh well.. Happy New Year just the same!

I put those coordinates in Google Earth and ended up at the South Pole.
OOPS!
I reversed them and was taken to Richmond, VA. I think the second one is correct!

someone let something go

someone let something go right over his head today and didn't even flinch. I must say I expect more out of you Robert F. Breuning.

We get two different new members in here asking about your favorite topics on the same day and not even a joke from ya.

I made up for your absence.

Luv ya

I would just like to say

I would just like to say that this is an awesome site. I'm a new member to this place and I already feel at home. I dont know how to create POI's yet but I hope to learn soon so I can contribute to this awesome site. I have been using a GPS for my field work for many years and I know how important it is to know where study sites are located. This year was the first year that I have solely relied on my gps to find my study sites. I have all of the meets and bounds written down and with me but I figured that I would try it with out them. And my GPS did great in finding the locations of my study sites. Also having a GPS allowed me to map the locations of my study sites with my GIS software ArcMap. I also use a GPS for fishing and I recently purchased a Lowrance 520c for my boat and I love having it. I recieved a garmin c330 for an early christmas present but i wasn't pleased with it so it got returned today and I'm now the owner of a Garmin Nuvi 360. I haven't used it yet but already I love it. This will really help me when I travel to other parts of the east coast fishing. Having gas stations and places to eat as well as walmart and bass pro shops and cabelas will help me in finding last minute items that i need to catch fish and places to eat and get that much needed gogo juice for the truck and boat. thanks all of you for your hard work. Hopefully I will also be able to contribute to this great site.

New Year's Day

Well, to start out the New Year right, my wife and I had a New Years Day brunch for 26 of our neighbors in the morning and then in the afternoon we had an open house for 24 more friends and neighbors. Now we are both trying to recuperate to get on with the new year.

I'm surprised

Asianfire, you couldn't talk your way out of the speeding ticket?

--
........Garmin StreetPilot c550 / Nüvi 765...........

Id fight that one

As long as it is a new speed limit in an area you are used to driving you Should fight it and win...That is a winnable case

thats definitely true,

thats definitely true, usually if its a new speed limit and it wasn't made public, you should be able to fight the case

Yeah, I don't fight with the

Yeah, I don't fight with the cop, I wait for court. I am definitely going to fight it, at worse try to get it reduced. I already have in mind what I want to say, just not the words yet.
