NUVI Nubee here... missing streets...

Hey there,
Is there any way of adding missing roads and streets to my 650? I have the 2008 map update and these new streets are still missing ... any help is most appreciated.

missing streets

Sorry, you'll have to wait for Garmin to release a newer map. You can try submitting the error to Garmin:

missing streets

well that kinda sucks...very irritating...patience is needed until something better comes along i guess..

Only TomTom allows user to edit the map. You'll have to wait till July for Garmin to update their maps. There is no guarantee it will contain your missing roads.

There is an exit ramp in my city on a major freeway that have been finished for the past 3 years and it's still not in the latest update.

Go to the source..

Ok, not saying it will do any good, but from my experience it works. The street design where I live was wrong. The basic view was o.k., but the nitty gritty was that the right turn didn't have an island. So I reported to Navteq. Well the 2008 maps have it correct.

I have a brand spanking new

I have a brand spanking new 350 just purchased 2 days ago. Within a 10 mile circle of where I live there are no less than 50 missing streets that my 350 mapping is not aware of.

80% or 40 of those 50 have been occupied and lived at for 2-3 years.

The other 20% have been occupied for close to 5 years.

It seems that these GPS Makers only purchase mapping
that is old enough to be dirt cheap and on its way to the trash can (Except Tom Tom. . .so everyone says?). The printed $12 ADC Books in the stores are up to date and they are initially paying someone for it?

I have often thought. . .why don't their systems allow you to update your maps by the state. . .perhaps every 90 days or so if you want so it stands a chance of being current. I would pay $25 for a good up to date layout of my tiny state before I would pay $100 for a sloppy and less tham comprehensive version of the entire nation. Their motto seems to have been make them buy far more than they need or want so you can charge them a hefty price and always hold back the best stuff.

Wouldn't it nice if they gave our GPS units the ability to LEARN and ADD new streets on its own.
Practically all of the components are there already and see the post from Ein above in regards to Tom Tom.

Really all they are missing is a little bit of software and this could be a reality.

You could then send that information to them and this whole thing could be kept accurate practically by the hour instead of being years behind.

I don't know what Garmin charges for their map updates yet because I am brand new to Garmin but I imagine it is $60-$100 because it covers the entire nation which I will never need or use and it will always continue to be years behind in accuracy.

Map updates

I agree 100%. You pay so much for a gps unit, from a leader in the field no less, an it won't even allow you to add on new streets. Its a given, you won't be able to add specific house or unit numbers, but for pete's sake allow it to add on these missing street names, or have the option of a "sync" with the computer to automatically update our units daily.
