Red Alert Should be Red not Black & White

Other people have mentioned that they have experienced this with the 7xx series. Must be a firmware bug.

All of my POI alerts appear as white letters on a grey background just under the green bar at the top of the screen.

On my red light alerts, I also hear hear the audio Mp3 alert.

My school POIs also show an additional white on red alert box below the white on grey message whenever my speed exceeds 20 mph and sounds the audio Mp3 message. The red message and audio disappear if my speed drops to 20 mph or below.

I don't use an alert for the Starbucks POIs because in Portland there is a Starbucks every three tenths of a mile and it can become annoying.

I also have the same white letters on a gray background for Alerts. It is below the top green direction bar. I have a nuvi 760 and also found it curious after seeing screen shots of other units with red color alerts. I will probably call Garmin TS and see if they agree it is worth looking at.

I want to see red!

I agree with all your comments. Just think Red background would be consistant with all over models and it's an eye attention getter. Let is know what Garmin TS has to say.

Garmin is currently looking into a different bug I found in my 760 regarding TourGuide files locking up the unit. I will probably wait until they resolve that before I hit them up with the red alert color change. If someone else wants to contact Garmin at this time that would be cool.

BTW I will post more about the TourGuide bug and Garmin's fix when they let me know more.

Yep, grey background white letters on the alert on the Nuvi 750.

The outback steakhouse alert mp3 of the music scares the heck out of me when I am not expecting it.

I have also noted that the Red Alert does not activate when viewing maps in manual mode. Meaning no go to route planned just following map. I thought the Red Alert and Speed Alerts were supposed to activate no matter what mode you are in.

I get them no matter the mode that I am in.

Thats great however, I suspect it's a firmware bug on the 760.

Oddly enough, I noticed my c550 alerts are sometimes red, or sometimes a white dialogue box with an OK button that times out. There has to be a logical explanation for this, right? Like course plotted versus not... maybe?

I've noticed that white box as well...but only when I'm on a screen other than the nav screen when entering an alert zone such as a redlight camera. All other times it's the red alert bar.

Has anyone heard from Garmin or better yet had any discussions with Garmin regarding this issue? I am wondering if Garmin has had complaints about this and will make any changes to the unit software in the near term? I will try to follow up with Garmin in a couple weeks after the new year events settle down.

I received a response from Garmin Tech support.

I checked with a supervisor on this and was advised that on many previous Garmin units, the indicator bar flashed red for all alerts. However, on some of the newer units, the bar may flash gray, depending on what type of alert was activated.... I am not aware of any updates that are planned to change this.

Yeah i also have the c550 and i get either the red or white but mainly i get the white
