New nuvi 760

You can get a case from Garmin or other online sites it is the same as used by the 6xx series. As for other types like the Blackberry case that asianfire refers to in another thread, I have found it difficult b/c the widescreens are not sized right for most digital camera or smartphone cases.

yup i read the the other forum case was for the 350. maybe i'll have to stop by at best buy and check it out.

Yeah, I didn't see any that would accommodate the wide screens. There are some bulk camera cases that would work, but not great for easy carry around like a belt clip type would be.

Best Buy has the Garmin case (for the 6xx series) for $20. Nice case, fits perfectly.

Someone here suggested this one....I got it...fits nuvi 660 perfectly.

couple months ago i got the 660 and when the 760 intro news came up i refunded before the 30 day policy. Got it from circuit city for $699.99 I haven't tried it...fedex just delivered it...i'm planning to try it out after leaving work today. So far the features are nice

1)specially the QWERTY layout, can use two thumbs to input. gotta love it...and the abcd.. layout on 660 slowed me down alot.

2)Design looks great and feels more steadier and tougher in my hand.. slightly thiner than the 660

3)Going to try later the GPS after work

4)One thing I don't like is the power on/off switch of the 760. Seems that after awhile of use I might break it...I prefer the 660 press and hold power button

As of right now, boss is not watching me =) ...i'm loading the POI files that i got from this great forum into the unit. I think i haven't been in this forum for a couple weeks, so not able to download the red light cameras yet...

Other than that we'll see after work and let you know...

I'm sure I need this unit bad...because of the devastating fire in South Cal causing a lot of traffic.

Does the 760 not come with a case like the 680?

None of the 7xx series comes with a case or a/c adapter. I called Garmin and told them that considering the rise in theft rates for GPSr and the need to carry the units with you it seemed silly to not provide some sort of carrier. They told me they were attempting to keep unit costs down, I suggested either a snap on or hinged plastic hard cover or maybe a synthetic instead of leather cases. As they say "The squeeky wheel gets the grease" and Garmin sent me a case free of charge.

I Got a real nice one from harbor freight tools for only $2.99 for my 2720 and it is made of water resistant material and has 3 pockets inside and one on the outside the outside one i use for cell phone chargers Etc the inside one's i use for the remote the stylus and pens or what ever you want to use it for it has 2 straps on case

just found my old pda case. It's a "targus" brand synthetic case...doesn't look as good as the leather one but i can carry on my belt...and provides plenty of protection... also is a perfect fit.

I use a blackberry case for my 350 and put on my belt. Works great!

One thing that I noticed on the nuvi 760 is that when driving on freeway it posts the speed limit, not that I need but i nice feature to have =)

If you want a hard case, try the Pelican 1040. You can get 'em from Amazon, or elsewhere, for about $20.

Don't forget to order the pluck-it foam ... it doesn't come with the smaller cases (It's $5-$10 extra).

I was at Best Buy lastnight and found a camera casefrom Lowe that would fit a 6xx and 7xx series it has a belt loop not clip but it does have snap so you do not have to take off your belt to get it off. It is the Lowepro ZEBO 50 and costs 14.95

the lowepro looks pretty nice.

anybody experiencing the problem w/ their nuvi 760 when turn it on it locks up and i have to hold the button for 8 seconds to turn off and turn back on? it happens every time i turn on from a cold start.

So tells you what the speed limit is suppose to be on that particular road?

yeah...only freeways...not local streets

I think you are the first one to have a 7XX series device on the forum, so nobody is going to answer your question about turning it off. I have preordered a 750, and am still waiting. I can answer one of your questions though. E-mail Garmin and tell them that you are surprised that they don't include a case with the device because of the sensitivity of the touch screen (and BLAH BLAH BLAH), and BINGO, they will ship you a nice leather case for FREE.... Worked for me! Now if I just had something to put in this lovely case!
