You can't
on a Nuvi 660. If you can, I haven't found a way, other than where you are at the moment.

I think that is what he was asking and I believe that you can on a 660. There are several ways of doing this on the 350.
1) Where to > My current location
2) touch the GPS meter strength and it will give coordinates of your present locaion.

I have a Street Pilot c550 My current location is not on my menu so I would guess this means I am out of luck?? Thank You!
Yes, on the c530, and I am
Yes, on the c530, and I am sure that it is the same on the 550, you can't view the coordinates. The only thing that you can do, is when you are at a location, save it to your favoirtes and then when you get home, open the gpx file in POIEdit and view the coordinates.

intended to say, except not in your words. You can also get elevation, but it's not always correct.
I think he was talking about getting longitude/latitude of several places.

SG, I've used a nuvi 650...
to show and verify co-ordinates many times. here's how,
1) Close GPS antenna
2) Use the "Where to?" or "View Map" selections to find the spot you want. When you get to the map screen, it is best to use the "+" (plus) key to zoom in all the way.
3) Select the point on the map you are interested in.
4) Press "Back" for more than 2-3 seconds to take you back to the main screen
5) Select "Where to?" again.
6) Scroll down ( arrow-key in lower right corner )
7) Select "Coordinates"
8) View data. You may want to press the "Format" key also to change the way in which the data point is presented. I prefer the "h ddd.ddddd" format because that's how data should be entered into POI files.

Good information
drdevo. I'll have to try that some time. That is if I can remember the sequence once I leave my PC for more than 10 min. I didn't know you could do it that way.
Garmin 660
Robert, one minor hint
When you zoom in all the way on the map screens, it's tough to pick just the right spot. I have fat fingers and they don't always pick the point I need. I have tried to use a pencil eraser and that appears to be a liitle more accurate.
Since the 650 & 660 are in the same family, these steps should work on your GPSr. I think the magic is shutting the GPS antenna. It kinda puts the nuvi in a "manual" mode.
That works too, forgot about that

Use a stylus from a DS or PDA. That works great! It is also a great way to calibrate the screen.

Its a great way to scratch the screen too. Garmin warns against using a stylus. Be mighty careful with one.
Garmin 660
Screen damage?
You mean that a stylus won't damage the touch screen?
I'm very paranoid about that.

I think
you misunderstood me. Garmin warns against using a stylus. It CAN damage the touch screen.

I have never had any issues.
I have never had any issues. However, you have to make sure that you don't have any spurs on it or dirt or it will damage the screen, but that is the case for any small touchscreen.

Thank you for that fantastic post.
I thought it was impossible, and wondered if I had bought the wrong GPSr.
Not for a nuvi 370
That procedure doesn't seem to work for a nuvi 370, but I'll keep trying and keep looking.

He missed a step (between step 3 and 4), after you touch the screen where you are intrested in, then click on "Set Loc". then do the rest as he stated.

That did it !
Adding that step gave me the coordinates. Thanks, Charley. Thanks all.

I find this out after I have printed out the instructions and packed it in my GPS case.

That's part of the secret decoder ring sequence. Only a select few may share the knowledge. :+)

That is my life story!!!!! Just found out that we have to pay $2000 to get out of apartment rental agreement, and we have already found a house we liked.

Hi drdevo,
Picking "just the right spot" is easy. After you zoom in, just tap the screen to bring up the pointer. Then with your finger on the screen (away from the pointer) just drag the point on the map you want to view, under the pointer.
HTH (HOPE THAT HELPS)

I'll have to try that. I don't want to use anything that might scratch or damage the screen and my fingers aren't as nimble as they used to be.

That works well.

YEah, that is what I do and it works pretty well. Still have to have rather steady fingers.
