Discrepancy In Route/Announcement

I had a discrepancy in the announcement of a County Road, and what the GPS showed.
Jill told me to turn right on County Road 400, but looking at the GPS (top of map) it showed going North on County Road 420, which was correct.
Has anyone else noticed the difference in the spoken route and the actual shown route?

Spoken Route/Shown Route

I haven’t experience anything like that, should it happen.

Discrepancy In Route

Jill tells you to turn when you come to the right road, not the road you are on.
Or is this a matter of semantics.

Yeah, that happened to me

Yeah, that happened to me once, but never since so I sorta figured it was a glich of some sort

That happened one time only about four months ago. My Garmin #7200 told me to stay to the right and enter Hwy US 17 north but the map showed that I pass the entrance and take the second entrance to US 17 South which was were I wanted to go. When I past the first entrance My wife said where are you going you missed the turn, when she saw we were going in the right direction, she said what the heck happened. Maybe not in that exact language!
So far that was the only time it did that.

Discrepancy In Route/Announcement

I just had this happen tonight. I parked in the SOHO area of NYC and went to dinner. When I came out I set my 350 for home, even though I know the way. It proposed a few streets for a turn ahead whidh I never heard of. After a short time it came back to it's senses. Maybe turning the device on while moving was a contributing factor.

I called garmin about that just 3 days ago

I have had that happen 3 times since I updated to the v.2008 maps. Seems it takes a little longer sometimes to know where it is. Interestingly enough, when I first turned it on, it acquires the sats in 30 seconds, I get 4 bars showing, I then DRIVE ABOUT 500 FT, then it tells me to head in a stupid direction. I ignore it and just head the right way, and it says NOTHING, like it was happy with the stupid instruction. I was waiting for at least a RECALCULATING message. It does not do this often, but once I believed it and went the wrong way. Annoying.
By the way, support was very nice. They suggested trying a bean bag device on top of the dash. I am using the Garmin remote antenna now. The bean bad device was sent to me for free from Garmin. Garmin is the best.

Yes, down here in Johnson County, at the 171 and 174 split in Cleburne. If I select a route to Ft Worth and I approach 171/174 from the west, take a left (north to Ft W) on 171/174, GPSr says travel xxmiles north on hwy 171. However, after making the left, and less than 100 yds, 171 splits left (NW) and hwy 174 continues north. The display changes from 171 to 174 and no "Recalculating" is heard, since the proper route is to be on 174. The magenta route stays on hwy 174. The error is the tts saying to follow hwy 171 (this would take you to Granbury/Cresson not Ft W). I haven't tried it, but I'm sure if I followed the verbal 171 and went left, I would hear "Recalculating".

I have submitted this to Garmin cartography and to Navteq back in Feb. No update status on that yet. It wasn't fixed in the v2008 map set.

Talk About Weird

I live at Heritage Ranch. My announcement goes like this, "Turn left to Harry Ridge Bull-vard". That's just an example. Some are even worse. I would think Garmin could get announcers that could speak a little more clearly than that. The bulk of their sales must be in the U.S., why couldn't they use American's speaking our kind of English, and let the other's suffer through it like we do? Just my opinion only.
