How can I erase maps from Nuvi 250?

I have sent wrong maps to my Nuvi 250, how can I erase all the maps other than the base maps “City navigator North America NT8”? When the unit starts I get “can’t unlock maps message”. After that message I can use the North America maps. I am looking a way to remove “can’t unlock” message.

Thanks in advance. NS

I found the solution

If your Nuvi or StreetPilot C5xx series keep displaying the maps are locked, you will need to erase a file from the units memory. Connect your GPS system to your computer, and with windows explorer double click on your device file (mass storage system), there you will see a folder named Garmin. In this folder are several different files, look for file named gmapsupp.img. Right hand click on this file and delete as this file is causing the maps to lock.

If you did not load the maps onto the internal memory and used a SD card instead, you will need to do the same as above. You need to look on the SD Card of the unit itself and delete the gmapsupp.img file.

Word of caution

Word of caution:

Before deleting any file, back it up ... you just may need it again!

And be sure NOT to delete the file named gmapprom.img.
