go to the bottom of the

go to the bottom of the libraries for sound and Icons and you can find instructions there.

Miss Poi

I followed those directions.

I followed those directions. I have a subdirectory for each POI file along with icon and sound byte if avail.
I got them on my unit, but when I go to proximity, I only get the options for custom POI. Nothing for sound, etc. Therefore I assume I am doing something wrong. Hopefully I will learn. They claim you can not teach an old dog new tricks, but I am willing to try.

.

You aren't going to get a menu indication on your nuvi for the sound.

What will happen if you named the files properly in accordance with the instructions AND set a proximity alert by running POI Loader in MANUAL MODE, is that you will get an alert in the form of the sound file you associated with the POI file at the distance you specified.

Are you saying that is not happening?

And, if you have a nuvi 660...

You can use the simulate function to "test drive" the proximity alerts and sounds without actually driving anywhere. I've used this method many times to test Interstate Rest Areas and test TourGuide files.

1) Close the GPS antenna to disable the GPS tracking, you don't need it to simulate.
2) Use these key steps; "wrench icon" -> "System" -> "Simulator". Select the "On" choice and hit "OK"
3) Press "Back" a few times to get to the main screen.
4) You'll have to use the "Where to?" mode a few times to set your location then set your destination. Once those 2 points are set and you press "Go!", the GPSr will "drive" to ( or past ) your POIs and you should see the effect of setting proximities.

That's why I play with my nuvi more than my iPod. ( can I say that on a family friendly website? ) Hmmm.

If you press on the Back for a couple of seconds, you can get to the main screen from anywhere.
